The zip on my last boots broke at the ankle (rear zip) so I was thinking the design of the zip on these might work better. Does anyone have experience of this kind of zip placement, are they comfortable and do they last? I'm a tight git so value for money is high on my priority list lol and I don't want to be replacing my boots every year or two if I can help it.

When I was last trying boots I gave a few different brands with side zips a go. Fair warning, depending on the shape of your feet/ankles/calves they can be a nightmare to get on and fastened up! I also found most of the brands really gaped at the top which was very unflattering. However I am aware that's more to do with my conformation :p

I have the premier equine ones, and I love them. Great fit, really comfy when riding although not great when walking (but I only walk from my stable to the mounting block in them) and great quality for the price. Only had them since Christmas though so can't comment on how hard wearing they are. My last boots were toggi quest (I think) and the soles died before the zips which is a first for me and made me want another side zip pair

I have the Mountain Horse Active Winter boots that have a zip in a similar position to the ones in the pic above, and to be honest I don't find them any easier to get them on and off - actually they are probably more awkward. It's the first bit really, once they are about one third of the way up they do up fine. That may be due to my anatomy and dimensions though! I think it's really person-dependent re the side zip.
