not had mountain horse long boots. Have always thought MH looked nice, but had 2 pairs of joddy boots (yard ones- so should be hardy) and they cracked and fell apart in a couple of months despite regular cleaning/softening, and the stitching came apart. A friends same ones did the same too. They cost about 60-70 quid a pair so wouldn't spend a lot of money on MH again. Suppose if you only wore them for riding though and no mucking around the yard they would last longer.

i like mountain horse but find they wear out quickly, ive not got a few pairs of taurus boots, i also have large calfs + they fit beautifully!! + r sooo comfy!! my day 2 day boots have lasted over a year so far + i wear them all day every day + r still lookin good. my riding boots i have had nearly 2 years + they still dont show any signs of wear!! + taurus are alot cheaper than mountain horse!! mountain horse sportives are bout £150 i think, where as taurus riding boot is bout £90!!

not hears of taurus, where are they from??

and marymoo, no theyre not for competing, just for everyday use, i do hammer my boots and want them to last lol

I have both MH (High Riders) and a pair of Equitector boots, both great, the MH ones were the cheapest but the Equitector ones have steel toecaps.

BTW: I always use boot trees, it stops the zip breaking just above the heel if the boots flop about when not worn.

Oh forgot to say have HUGE calfs (run alot) and had no problem fitting.

I have to recommend Dubarry boots, they have a variety of boots for different calf widths (I have the wexford which have a zip side and are for wider calfs) and although they are expensive they last so long and are incredibly comfortable

I have Ariat Challenge, which I love. They come in 3 different calf widths and 3 different heights for each shoe size, they have a zipper up the back, and they have lasted me 3 yrs so far.

I had Equitector jodphur boots that lasted 4 years before finally giving up - the only problem in that time was the laces snapping!

I love my mountain horse boots, I've got both long and short boots and find they last me about 3 yrs a go wearing them most days... really warm and comfy!! Have tried other boots and wouldnt change now..

Ariat Grasmeres, they are fantastic. My feet have never felt so warm and dry even on the coldest of days.. The beauty of the lacing at the side is there is so much adjustment, I can wear them over my jods and equally well over my jeans too as they expand.

From the first day I owned them they felt great, no breaking in, no "stiff"ankles and no rubbing... unlike the Moloh's I bought, that STILL rub me

Love my MH boots, I still have a pair of High Riders which are still going strong after 6 years (and they do get alot of stick and I never clean them), the zip on one went about a year ago, so I took them along to a cobbler and got both zips replaced and they are in full use again.

Also have a pair of MH protective joddy boots (steel toecaps) and they are about 4 years old and again in perfect condition (although they've never been cleaned).

Highly recommend MH!
