Hi everyone,

Looking for some advice here...
Need a pair of long comp boots mostly for dressage a bit of everything. I have been trying to buy a pair of the Mark Todd Long Competition Feild (with laces) boots but they seem to have stopped making them and cant get them anywhere in a Size 5 Wide Short.

Any other suggestions? I have always been blessed with short stumpy calves, only about 15/16 inches high and 15 wide at widest point (lovely I know!)

I'd like something that actually fits and good quality leather for competing ideally under £150 but max £200.

Thanks :)

Lol! No matter how small my waist line was to get my calves will never shrink! They are solid haha! Thanks have looked at mountain horse but was wanting something a wee bit neater for competition wear as thibk they tend to be more bulky? Will look at shires (and Pilates) x

I've just bought Ariat Bromonts in 5.5 short/wide. I'm 5'3" with extremely short legs (long body, very short legs!) and they fit nicely on my big calves.

They may be slightly over budget but you may be able to find some in a sale somewhere :)

I have the same problem, when I was a size 12 I still could never find boots to fit. Now its a real problem as even extra wide boots were horrid and tight and short lengths too long. I ended up with Fulla Filly ones. They were the only ones that fit.

Ooo really I love my short ariats but did not think there was hope of bromonts in that size! Thank you :)

They do come up fairly wide so be warned. My chunky calves are usually too fat for every boot I ever try but in the short/ wide the size 6 was too big on the calf- I was shocked! Had to drop down to size 5.5 and it's just right.

Ariat Bromont or Heirtage Contour in short and wide.
If you're ordering online without trying on first then go down half a foot size from what you normally wear.

You can get heel risers which help with the length as well. Short boots are a bit short on me but longer ones are a bit too long and dig into the back of my knees. With a pair of insoles that lift my heels inside the boots they're fine. Plus it makes the boots very cushioned and comfy!

I have Mountain Horse Firenze (wide) boots which I love, they're wide enough to fit but still make my substantial calves look nice and slim. I'm sure they must do a short/wide version.

Cannot seem to get them in a size 5 short wide for love nor money! Any ideas? Have emailed them and everything :(

I have these ones though there are another 3 different styles (And cheaper boots by Mark Todd) that do a short/wide fit. I brought them from this website too so can confirm that they are 100% legitimate. Delivery was very quick and there was a 10% off deal on when I brought mine :) Highly recommended!

Me too OP , must be a scottish thing lol. I had a pair of Regent graftons , will were smart but not the comfiest I will admit. Ended up buying a cheap pair from Go outdoors which are surprisingly comfy and easy to clean. Not sure what level you compete at but they are smart enough for area dressage and regional showing.

Ariat Bromont in short wide and as a prev poster said go down half a shoe size, once they drop they should be great (I am short and stumpy too)
