Hi

I have just bought some new long leather boots to wear when I compete but they are a tad on the wide side around my calf. Ironic really as I have been struggling to find boots wide enough for my fat legs! Having finally found some I can actually zip up I seem to have gone to the other extreme and they are a little loose (I know, no pleasing some people! )

so.......my question is......is it possible to get boots adjusted and taken in slightly around the calf? if so, who is the best person to approach, saddler or cobbler?! Finally, if it is possible to be done and anyone has any experience of having boots made narrower, does it have a decent result? i.e. can you tell it has been done and how do the boots feel after?

Thank you in advance :)

P.S. If it's needed, the boots are zip up, not pull on and I am in Shropshire!

Have had boots stretched before but not taken in. If it proves impossible to have them adjusted it might be worth investing in the thickest pair of socks you can find.

I have had boots narrowed in the past.

I had them done by a good old fashioned leather worker and you couldn't tell they'd benn worked on.

Thanks for your replies...... :)

.....I must admit the thick socks idea had crossed my mind! My only trouble is they're perfect in the foot so maybe it will have to be thick legwarmers instead......will be nice for summer!! :p

....I will add leather workers to my list of people to contact and just keep ringing around with my fingers crossed....thanks! it is nice to know that if i can get the work done it can not be noticeable.....was worried that it could completely ruin them. Sorry to be cheeky but I don't suppose you can remember roughly what kind of price you paid to have it done?

thanks again :)
