My boyfriend recently bought me the Mark Todd leather field boots for my birthday in a standard leg, they fit fine round the calf but unfortunatly they are too long and really dug into the back of my knee. Does anyone else have the same problem and are there boots out there which could fit me without getting them made to measure??

Apologise if you already know this, but how long have you had the boots, you need to bare in mind that long leather riding boots need to pan in and yes they will rub a little to begin with (even months...depending on how much you wear them) before the ankle drops, this will give anything between half or an inch drop at the back of the knee so in time they shouldn't rub due to being too long in the leg, but it can take a time to get to that stage, you just have to go through the pain barrier and put up with a few rubs beforehand :D

Well, for every day boots and the very local level of competing I do, I wear Spanish boots... Spanish people are generally quite short and these boots are 40cm from floor to back of knee (works for me - I am 5')

Spanish Booty Goodness

The model you want is the bota cremallera piso liso. If you email them, they can do it in black at no extra cost.

You could always try a pair of heel risers in your boots? Once they are worn in a bit, they will probably sag a little anyway. Good luck

^^This, plus you can buy some inserts to put into the foot to raise it slightly, of course will only work if they are a little bit too long :)

Thanks for the replies, i have now sold them on ebay as they were far too long i couldnt even bend my leg at all let alone try and ride in them.

Ill have a nosey on that website thanks.

Long leather boots do settle a little, but the shorter the leg, the less the settle.

If you are just wanting leather boots to ride in, then Dublin River Boots or Ariat Windermeer boots are quite good.

For smarter boots, you may be better off getting some specially made - they don't cost the earth. Decathlon sometimes have good long leather boots which come up quite short, but not of a quality that are going to last years and years of use.

Alternatively, short boots and half chaps. Ariat or Treadstone both do small size chaps.

Tuffa will also make boots to measure if they have to and they are god boots.
