Hi,
I need to get something decent to cover my legs with as am starting to compete - my current badly fitting bargain basement jods not up to scratch unfortunatly!
I seem to struggle to find something that fits nicely. I get jods and let the leg down to make them long enough and to get rid of the bulge under my chaps. What do other longer legged ladies do? I think breeches would be nice as there seem to be more smart options with them, but does anyone do breeches in a long leg?
SO, what would you recommend? Would love to go the posh brand route but just can't stretch to that, so a max of £50 really - though anything for less and in a sale would be better!
I also seem to be a bit on the curvier side, many seem to be too big on the waist, then (bizarly!) tight over my knees especially! I'm a 28 normally.
Help! Too much choice online and rubbish tack shops near by makes this tricky!
eta: 1'm a 34'' inside leg - some of the breeches I've seen state a 26'' inside leg!! Far too short, they would come to just below my knee. I would freeze - I'm after being snug and smart for winter!

Harry Hall Atlanta jods all the time. They always fit whether you are having a fat or skinny day and even the regular length are quite long and I'm 5'9"

For breeches I wear Ariat or I buy mine from the US as I like side zip ones, Equine Couture Tuscany breeches are a lovely length but you can only get them in the US and Canada!

I do the same as you, buy normal length jodhs then let down the hem to make them lay smooth under my chaps or boots. I actually buy kids' ones in the right waist size cos they're so much cheaper and the length doesn't matter a bit when they were never going to be long enough! (I'm a 34" inside leg for jeans, so jodhs are easier to get hold of than trousers cos the daft 5" gap 'tween boot and hem is just hidden, which can't be done with non-riding trousers, heh)

I have long legs and always wear long Pikeurs I am afraid - pricey, but worth every penny! Have a look on eBay for second hand ones

I'm a 34 inside leg and wear normal breeches and have no problem at all. They are ment to finish a bit higher than jods anyway. But I only have Cavallo, Pikeur and RTS ones. Have heard lots of good things about the Mark Todd ones so maybe worth looking at them.

oh dear, I was worried you would say pikeur, they do look gorgeous! Maybe I'll have to find somewhere to try them on. Oh dear, poor credit card!

I got some 28L Pikeurs off EBay the other day - the lovely ribbed fabric with leather knee patches - £6.10!!! Bargain.

NB: DO what I did - go to posh riding shop and try on Pikeurs, Cavallos etc. Decide on exact fabric and size then wait like a stealth missile for correct size and fabric on EBay! There are loads of Pikeurs on there, the most I have paid is £27 for a pair of Pikeurs and they're lovely! Also a pair of Schumacher ribbed fabric ones I practically live in @ £17!

Now this post is bugging me now because I can't reply properly, I can't remember the style but the make is Caldene, there in this lovely stretch cotten, with the sticky type bum...although its not that thick normal sticky bum material that is on most jodhpurs, its only very thin, but there the competition style style breeches and are there cut really nice, I 'm going to have a look at the style name when I get home because I desperately want to order some more because I love them, mine are in white but I know they do them in buff, hopefully in many other colours too but yes they in long, and although there breeches they come down to my ankles lol

Caldene Belgrade! I have 4 pairs - lovely breeches, the reg legs are quite long so the long ones will be super long!
At HOYS last year one stall was selling limited stock @ £19.99 a pair....just in case anyone's going.....

What size are you after? As I have lost weight and have some beige/buff ones that are too big for me

I am 35inside leg and wear mainly breeches..

I have alot of Ariat from the USA, the PRO circuit breeches are fab.

everything I wear comes just below mid calf and I have just got used to that. My long boots cover it all up, so I am not concerned.

Looks like it's pikur then. Do you find them pretty similar to other brands in terms of size? I tend to go for a 28 to get a comfy fit, but they are pretty much always to big on my waist. Now hunting for a good price online!

Yeah that might be what they call them, I bought mine at Bramham, they were on offer at £20.00 a pair, I got them a few years ago and went back to the same stall and they still had them in but I wanted the buff ones....because there a nice colour to use for everday riding but they didnt have my size but still at that great price.

I'm a size 26, Ive got a small waist but chunky in the thighs the good thing about these breeches is that they have a small waist but are generous at the top of the leg and they stay up well and don't stretch so you don't get that horrible saggyness around crouch area and you don't have to keep hauling them up all the time, there like a second skin

I'm a 26 waist and a 36 length and i get mine from Equestrian clearance website just the standard breeches, quite nice and comfy, generous round the legs tho so a little saggy round the bum hehe =\ pikeur for posh jods are fab but expensive

oow yes I forgot too, another vote for the Mark Todd ones, out of all the breaches I tried at my local tack shop....and I was in that changing room a very long time! the Mark Todd breeches were a a lovely fit, very similar to the Caldene ones I was on about, so if you don't want the price of the Pikeurs but want the comfort, style and quality, then certainly worth trying pair on.
