I've just re-started my 4 year old after a long holiday, he's not backed but had done most of the preliminary stuff. He's doing well, and I've started long lining again and he's picked it up well, except for turning and particularly changing the rein. He seems to have forgotten what he has done, although we do lots of in hand work.
I've had somebody at his head, and he's fine, but as soon as they move away he seems to get really tense and not keen to turn- he will make the turn but then is hard to straighten up to go onto the other rein.
Any ideas? He's very responsive at walk and stop, but he seems to have a genuine mental block with the turning issue.
