Hi im looking to treat myself and buy myself some nice long leather boots!
i usually ride in jod boots and my tredstep chaps (which i looove) but looking for something a bit more professional looking for competitions

I do a bit of everything, SJ XC and dressage and do prefer the sleeker well fitted boot as i have quite slim calves. but looking on forums there is just sooo many different opinions about which boots are best. I reaaally like the look of the Brogini boots, e.g the gallipoli and roma boots, does anyone have any experience with these boots?
Also can anybody recommend any other boots that wont break the bank;)

all help and advice will be really appreciated please :)

I can recommend the Mark Todd long riding boots. They're quite slim fitting but very long - I'm 5'10" with a 34" inside leg and they come right into the back of my knee. You can get them for around £100.

When I was concerned about the length of them I ordered a pair of Brogini Roma but honestly I didn't like the leather or fit as much as the Mark Todd's - they seemed a bit chunkier around the shoe and heel and the leather looked like it would take longer to break in.

In the end I stuck with the Mark Todd's and just wore plasters under my breeches until they dropped at the ankle a bit :o

Equestrianclearnacesales on eBay do slight seconds in Broginis for £90 which is where I got them from. Excellent service, delivery then a refund without any quibbling, and I couldn't spot why they were seconds.

Thank you for your reply, I will definitely investigate the Mark Todd boots, as they also look very nice in pictures :)

I have Dublin on air stretch field boots. I always recommend them on here, because they are fab. They have a panel of material that isn't leather but you can't tell and has a 'stretch' in it. Very comfy, very smart and I have never had a problem with Dublin boots if you look after them.
My short boots have been going for 7+ years and are only jut looking worn in!

i hadnt considered the dublin boots before so will definitely have a look, thanks for you reply :)

~Ariat Bromont love them, second year wear them all the time and they are really hard wearing and nice to have on.
thank you very much for the response :) they seem to have very positive reviews and look lovely, but would you say they are particularly slim fit as they dont look as slim fit as broginis in pictures?

No they are not, i think they are very smart and comfortable (i got a cheap second hand pair as yard boots) but they are more of a "soft boot" as i like to call them. the broginis are just as comfortable but my leg feels much more supported in them. I would invest in boot trees whatever boots you get though

If you go to the Ariat web site they have the calf measurements by size. They say they should feel snug when new and they do but there is a slightly stretch panel so they have give which solid leather boots dont. My calves are not that slim and I have small feet (3.5) but they are fine on me
