Long riding boots- Fit?

I have just bought a pair of Toggi Calgary boots for everyday riding and yard work, to replace my old worn jod boots and chaps

They look very good quality and are very smart, but they dont exactly have alot of give in them, for example when im bending my foot they seem stiff. They also feel a little stiff around the tops of the boot.
The boots themselves are comfy its just as i say they are not very flexible.

I bought them online so im reluctant to send them back unless I really have to. Do you think they will give a little with wearing them?

Do all long boots feel a little stiff at first? (im a jod boot person normally

Keep on going!! All long boots feel like walking in moon boots for the first few wears.. but they will mould to your leg soon and become like old friend.
 
Well I have a bit or a riding boot fetish, I keep trying to find reasons why I need a new pair (except my others are still going strong) but that doesn't stop me from trying every boot of every make every time I enter a tack shop.

Anyway I made the mistake of going to Ride-Away on Wednesday and yes you guessed it, I was busy zipping my right leg into every long black riding boot they had and I was surprised to find that the best fit, softest leather (because I like the flexibility of joddy boots/chaps too) was the Shires Nofolk riding boot (£109.00) they were one of the cheapest yet the most comfortable boot and the sort of boot that doesn't need breaking in so to speak, certainly the sort for everyday riding, although not sure how long they would last compared to the Ariats/Regents/Petrie/Sergios/Cavallo etc etc but then they were half the price and certainly on my Christmas wish list!

But yeah they take time to wear in, prepair yourself for blisters in the heal and behind the knee, they usually drop a inch once they buckle around the ankle, just wear them non stop for a few weeks and you'll have them broken in.

Fantastic thanks. I was hoping they would drop slightly.
Infact im sitting with them on now hoping that walking about the house will help them soften!

They are lovely boots though if only they would hurry up and drop!

I have abit of a riding boot fetish too. I have a pair of every different type, muck boots for mucking out. Jod boots for summer. Muckers for lazy days, Yard boots which have never been worn and now long riding boots, maybe its time to stop!!

I bought a pair of these last week and I have worn them every day and already they feel much better. Just keep on wearing them!

Try saddle-soaping them up! I did this when i needed mine to break in and drop quickly - wearing them everyday did the trick too!
 
Thanks for the tips i will certainly try that.

They are starting to soften at the bottom already, the tops however are a different story lol!
They are almost too nice to wear outside!
