Long riding boots for short legs?

I have been looking for a pair of traditional field boots. Went to a big tack shop today and tried on literally every long boot in the whole place, and everything was too long for me. I tried Tredstep, Brogini, Ariat, Mountain Horse, etc etc... even Shires! Does anyone know of any traditional long boots that come in varying heights? My calf is 14in and length is about 14-15in. I'm willing to pay up to £250 if needs be! Somebody please tell me there is light at the end of the tunnel for this short a*se :confused:
 
Hi, I have this problem too (have about the same leg length as you but your legs are slimmer). I got a lovely pair of boots from the English Gaiter Company which were slightly long when I got them, but now they have dropped fit me perfectly.

They have a sizing chart on their website. I bought mine from Colne Saddlery. They dont advertise them on their website but they have them in their shop

I have short legs too and got mountain horse boots they were avail in short length, we're still too long to start with but now they have dropped they are perfect ..
 
I have the same measurements and size 3 feet.

Children's Boots! But you'll probably have to buy online to get them- I never see proper children's long leather boots in even large shops. I got some Junior Rimfrost Riders (older style) which are a good fit- but probably not smart enough for you.

Or you could try heal lifters? Although I suspect they won't be quite enough to overcome the height.
 
I have the same problem as you as would have loved some long boots to ride in, but they were all massive too long! I think my lower leg is 14inch…
I just gave up looking and bought some half chaps - which was also a pain but got some shires XS ones which have stretched to my calf :)
Being short is a little bit of a problem :o what brand of jods/breeches do you wear??

Unfortunately the shop I tried was sold out of MH in short length so that may be worth a try. Do you find them bulky or are they ok? They looked a bit chunkier than some other brands...

Thank you everyone! I am thinking childrens' boots may be the way forwards - I am in Northern Ireland so options to try on are rather limited! I'm a size 3/4 depending on the brand, the poor girl in the shop didn't know what to do with me :o

I'm in boots and chaps at the moment but want something a bit smarter for competing :( As for jods, I wear whatever I can find! My comfiest pair are a really cheap brand (Galaxy I think?) that are miles too long and fold back up halfway to my knees :o Children's jods by Tally Ho are also fab :)
 
I usually ride in chaps and keep boots for occasional and dressage... They are more bulky but I found them easy to get used to... I have to get kids jods too ladies are far too long for me.. I've got big feet tho (7) so kids ones wernt an option.. Lol

Me too!

I wear them for everything as I don't like chaps and jod boots. If I want to wear something smarter and less clumpy, I have some Harry Hall Barocca's.
 
Mark Todd boots come in regular and short lengths - they do a plain competition boot and a field boot that zip up the back and they are fantastic
 
Mark Todd conpetition boots in short should fit you they come in field boots or plain. They are about £225. Don't get them mixed up with the cheap version they do around the £100 mark, they are rubbish and VERY stiff!!
 
Daughter has the same problem - she is 5' & a size 4. She has Shires ones (dunno which ones off hand) but with all her boots she gets some heel raiser pads to put inside too & they help to just raise her legs up a bit so that the boots don't come right up to her knees xx
 
I tried the Sherwood Forest moreton boots on in a short wide as I normally have this problem, they were too short! So perhaps worth a look? I settled for Ariat bromonts which are starting to drop.
 
Got same dilemma with teenager in size ten foot but shorter leg, I've found tuffa ones in brown or black and the height of them is from 35cm to 44cm depending on size, have ordered them see how they are. We tried m Todd and m horse but too long in sz 10.
 
I have the Mark Todd Long Boots and they're fab! I have short legs and they fit like a treat.
They come in short and regular and the short fitting is 5" shorter than the regular so its very suitable for short legged riders!
 
Could anyone assist me I have size 15" and a half calfs and leg height and a size 8 UK foot does anyone know where I can find long field boots to fit me??
 
I have the short calf problem too, but to add to the burden I have muscley calves and apparently people 5ft and under aren't supposed to have bosoms or muscles *sigh* Luckily I can fit in to children's jodhs as grown up ones are miles too long and even grown up breeches are slightly longer on me than I would want my jodhs to be. I managed to get some Shires Norfolk short extra wide leather boots which just about do for me but as they are still quite new I have to put them on at least an hour before I ride so they 'relax' a bit.
 
I sympathise OP. I have small ankles, wide toes, narrow calves, short legs and unfortunately, larger feet. ( that does sound weird ) My boots are so long I had to make extra high heel risers so I could wear them. The idea of shortening the height is a good one, but be careful as you may lose the shaping and end up with boots that are too wide at the top. I hope you find some to fit.
