Long riding coat recommendations - not Equidry or similar

I was looking for pretty much the same as the OP. I bought a HKM Seattle coat. It's very long and the skirt on it is huge! I haven't ridden in it yet, as pony has been off for a few weeks, but it has been keeping the rain off nicely. Only criticism is the pockets don't have a flap over them, so could get water inside. Not happened yet, but I've not been out in torrential rain yet!

It also has a drop-down reflective warning sign under the shoulder cape thingy. And really good inner cuffs that help loads with stopping water getting up the sleeves.

Definitely Stierna.

I tried one at Badminton last year and fell in love but was £400.
I searched online quite regularly and managed to get one for £200 after about 4 months of looking ... They are completely worth it!!

It's the most waterproof thing ever made, is so flattering and just really really good quality..
I see they are a couple different "types/styles" - what did you go for? They do look so flattering! Do they have any filling?

@Stenners I got one of the Stierna Nova raincoats for my daughter earlier this year - it doesn’t have thick filling so in very cold weather she wears thin layers underneath but it is so much more flattering and versatile than the oversized equidry types. If you’re not a standard size then you could well find a bargain - she’s tiny so I managed to get one with more than £100 off the recommended retail price.

Mine is the long Stierna Nova.

I got the one with no filling, which means I can also wear it in the summer downpours.

In winter I pop layers underneath.

I'm looking for recommendations for a long waterproof riding coat please. I don't really like the Equidry type coats so am just wondering if anyone has any other suggestions.

My main requirements are for a split at the back rather than on the sides. I would also prefer lightweight so I can wear it all year round and just layer up underneath if needs be. I would like to wear it for both hacking and in the school so it would need to allow me to move in the school. Does anybody do jumping in these sorts of coats?

Bonus points if it has reflective bits on or comes in an interesting colour but that's not essential as I would wear hi-viz over it. I'm not that fussed if it has a hood or not as I don't tend to use them very much.

I've been looking at the Mountain Horse Alicia (I think), the Jack Murphy Malvern and also the Equetech one which I can't remember the name of now.

If anyone has any of these and can recommend them or not, or has any other suggestions I'd be very grateful. Thanks.
I have got an Equetech Utopia for my daughter for Christmas and I am impressed with it. It feels super quality, is made of beautiful fabric and is light weight. It has a bit of stretch so I would think it is very comfy to wear. I particularly like the cuffs and the fleecy pockets. It has a zip at the back with a skirt underneath which has reflective strips on it. The colours are Navy, Khaki, Charcoal. I got the Charcoal.

Jumping on this thread! I have an Equidry at the moment but to be honest I hardly wear it as I get so hot and find it soo bulky! I tried on the Weatherbeeta Kyla at the weekend which I absolutely loved! However that's a bit too warm at the moment so looking for a thinner one. I did also try on the Weatherbeeta Everly which is the thin version but wasn't sure about that - didn't seem as comfortable. Any recommendations?

I never did update this thread but I will do now it's been revived again. This was exactly the coat I ended up going with and I managed to get a bit of a deal on it.

I agree on the quality of the material and I do think it's quite flattering. It's also comfortable and warm. It does have some quilting in it so will be too warm for the summer but it's good for this time of year.

For the purposes of an honest review for anyone else considering it, there are a couple of things I don't quite like. There are leg straps to keep it in place when you're riding but they do up with velcro behind your thigh. I find them really difficult to fasten in the first place and then they do tend to ping undone randomly. Not the end of the world and also I have big thighs so this might just be me. The other thing is it does really finish mid-low thigh when I'm in the saddle so my knees and bits of my saddle will still get wet if riding in the rain. Overall I do like it though so I think I would recommend it with those considerations in mind.

Somebody I know has one of those Stierna ones, I'm not sure which model. It does look super smart though and I had quite a bit of coat envy when I saw it!

I ended up going to London International Horse Show and trying on the new Le Mieux Amelie - it was really nice and flattering and comfortable and has a gilet type bit inside! Looks smart too! Fingers crossed it lasts!
