Long riding coat with flap to protect front of saddle

I'm being very specific here! My mare is only comfortable with a good sheepskin and it gets soaked if it rains. I need a coat which will completely covers my saddle in front and behind rather than just splitting to go over.

I'd also like it to be long enough to end on my boots rather than above them.

I know I saw a few of these when I looked earlier this year, can't find them not. Any help much appreciated.
 
I'm actually asking because I ordered a riding skirt and she's just cancelled my order.

I was never that sure about them, do they sit well around the saddle and not end up under your bum if you trot?

Mine is a short Uhip one and it wouldn't keep the front of the saddle dry in most instances. Highly recommend it otherwise but not specifically for this.
 
I've got one from here, had it about 6/7yrs and it's never ended up under my seat. It covers the front and back of the saddle, plus the horse's loins. You can add pennies to the hem to weight it so it doesn't flap about.

I have a Stierna which is amazing

It's the long Nova riding coat and is the most waterproof thing that has ever existed!
It has the front flap you want and the back unzips so your whole saddle stays as dry as you do

I got mine on sale for £200, there are some bargains if you are good at internet searching.
Mine came from GS Equestrian.

Back in the 90s Musto jackets were the 'in thing' with all the riders I knew, and I think the company also sponsored a few big name riders. I wonder if waning fashion (riders moving on to another brand) shrank their sales too much. Shame as they were good coats.

I'd also suggest a riding skirt, I've got an equo one, it covers all of the saddle & survives gallops on Dartmoor,
If you do get one, go for a lined one as the extra weight stops them flapping at the front.
My only complaint was the elastic leg straps were ridiculously thin & weak, had to replace them.
 
l have a Stierna long coat which covers everything and also has high viz markings if you unzip the hems, it’s pretty wid3 and very waterproof. I’ve also a couple of riding skirts the nouvelle habit ones are expensive but work well as easy to put on and off, they’re also very warm. They’ve a sale on at the moment.
 
I have the Stierna and have had it for about 3 years with very little wear showing. Expensive but more than worth it. I think other posters have covered the coat as well but I can say I've never been wet/soaked through and the hood even fits over a helmet and doesn't fall off! (A problem I have in general with hoods as they never seem to stay put!!!)

I've got one from DoPo too and it's brilliant. It completely covers me and the saddle (I hate my saddle getting wet in the rain) and I also find mine doesn't move when trotting, cantering etc. One of my best pieces of kit!
 
It was ecqo I had ordered my skirt from, she's wound up the business and refunded (although is using up what material she has left so dont be put off looking).

My husband has ordered me 'a riding skirt' for christmas now, that's the entire detail I'm getting! Whilst I wanted a functional waterproof one I would not be disappointed in a beautiful tweed jobbie, we shall see!

Oh no that's a shame I love my Eqco one. It's still going strong but maybe I'll have a looky and see if any are going in my size.

Hope the one your husband has ordered is nice 🙂
