I was flicking through the pages of either the Free Press or the Spalding Guardian in the Drs waiting room and stumbled across a story re; a Long Sutton woman and a 7 year ban on keeping horses being imposed.

Typically, just as you find something half decent to read in these places you get called in....

Does anyone know anything about this? Had a quick scout about online and couldn't find anything, local garage on the way home didn't have the right papers....

And the case reported in H&H, ( you can see it listed in the article on the Maggie slashing report (God what a country we seem to be!)) about a Hampshire couple successfully prosecuted by the RSPCA for neglect and cruelty to two ponies, and were banned for ten years. This was earlier this week.

I'm from Long Sutton and this is very close to my heart. The horse Crofty belonged to my friend and she sold him eighteen months ago to this woman as she thought he was going to a good home. The woman was told several times to feed and water the horses but her reply was ' oh they are ok, they will get it out of the grass ' She owns a local barbers and hair dressers. She also has 2 other ponies which the same friend who sold he Crofty has now got. She didn't sell them, she signed them over to her sister. They were in a very bad way aswell, but now getting better. The picture of Crofty was taken 3 months before he was taken, so you can imagine what he looked like. She has just told lie after lie.My friend has tried to get Crofty back from the RSPCA but they will not let her.

Sorry for the bit of a rant but as you can imagine we are all very upset over this.

Oh, that's awful, I haven't seen any pictures, just a little in the paper as I flicked through, when I came out of the docs there was an old man reading it. I tried loitering, but when it was obvious he wasn't putting it down any time soon I left, as there's only so long you can loiter round the docs waiting room without causing suspicion!

How lovely though to hear from someone nearby, me and Henry are outside Moulton.

It is nice to talk to people that are near. Do you do any of the shows around here. You never know, we mat have bumped into each other!

I'm near too in Fleet, Kerilli, Nijinski and Wonkey_Donkey are all within 5 miles too

Spalding Riding Club shows start soon at Whaplode, Sheepgate is local, Tilnet St Lawrence RC, Wisbech RC, Blackborough End at Lynn, Sissons Farm at Pboro, Fourwinds at West Pinchbeck, Sheepgate at Boston, Boston RC - the list goes on - try buying the Yellow Ads it's packed in the what's one page

Hadn't heard about woman in LS - disgusting and awful fro your friend

i'm near Long Sutton, hadn't heard anything about this... i certainly haven't seen any malnourished horses because i'd be straight on the warpath. wish i'd seen the poor horses.

hi hollybell, you must live very close to me then! hi PennywithHenry!

No, I haven't been to any of the shows recently, I showed a friends coloured a couple of years ago at Sheepgate, I think it was, the one at Leverton going on Skeg way?

I haven't lived here that long, and have been horseless, now with Henry, hopefully we'll be out and about next year, fingers crossed anyway!

I don't suppose any of you know for any grazing to let do you?

I knew there were a couple of people on the forum out this way, but not where or just how close! I work in a shop and keep serving customers wearing jods etc, I'll have to start jumping on them asking "Do you go on HHO?" People'll think I'm madder than ever!

You'll all have to come and meet Henry, it'd be nice to have some outside opinions on him that aren't from my vet or bitchy friend!

Kerilli, I love the chestnut in your sig, I was planning on a chestnut, that was the colour of my old mare I lost a few years ago.....but then I was also planning on investing in a fit, healthy, sound, younger mare in the beginning of 2009, when we were set up for a horse and had rested the paddocks, not a skinny, 18 year old bay TB gelding....Oh well, he may be scratty, a bit rough around the edges, boney, older than planned and the wrong colour-but I love him lol

Bet hubby never gives me a cheque for £100 no questions asked again lol!!

Kerilli, I work in Whaplode, if you know where that is, a couple of miles from where I live. It's between Holbeach and Spalding, but I suppose you know that lol

HeidiBoo, who's on here is local, she lives near Holbeach, I met her and her horses last week, if you know her? I always assume all horsey people know each other, but to be honest, the ones I met (not on here, just through people when I got Henry) aren't very nice....I'm just frowned upon in the local community for "wasting money on a useless nag" lol

K - me and Ian'll be up for coffee (shock!)

PWH - which shop in Whaplode? I go in the petrol stations in jods all the time! Don't know of any grazing but again the Yellow Ads is as good as anywhere - there's a couple of small livery yards near me?

Forgot Heidiboo was Whaplode way - sorry HB!

M_G is fairly local too - this side of Pboro, keep meaning to catch up with her but haven't got that far!

Think there were a couple from Lynn way too, and someone Wisbech way

K - you'll need some cups!

I didn't realise there were so many from around this way. I used to work at Fleet Fen.

My partner and I are opening a flooring shop in Long Sutton in 2 weeks so you will have to pop in for a cup of tea. It would be nice to meet new people.

We will have to try and organize a mini meet up!

Miller, the Co-Op. You haven't got a black 4X4 and a nice pair of long boots have you? There was a woman came in the other day, she had the most gorgeous pair on, I was trying to get a look for a make but I think she thought I was a lesbian lol

I suppose asking would have been the obvious course of action!

I need to udate my horsey wardrobe, I gave all my stuff to my sister in law when I sold my ISH and just had my old lady, just wear jeans and muckers now, as all I do is feed and push a barrow about! Still, it'll be worth it in the long run!

I text HB as she hasn't been on in a while, she said she'll pop in when she's done at work. She's pregnant now you know. She's a bit miffed as she had all that trouble with her TB being poorly, he's finally better, she starts bringing him back into work and then discovers she's pregnant! She's had a few problems and has had to stop riding, but I'll let her fill you in on that. Have you seen her old mare, the 36 year old? She's gorgeous! All hair and dribble lol

Hollybell - I know you! Saw you in Tesco's Holbeach the other week with your littlun and we stood chatting , own a certain black gelding and used to compete with you! A

PWH - I wish - was it a black Range Rover? Girl pregnant? No I drive either a white Pug 306 or a M plate Mazda 626

Do you have long dark hair Miller?

I didn't notice if she was pregnant, she had a large jacket on, really nice boots though!! It was a rangerover, quite a new one. Couldn't say much else, I have damned customers interrupting me all the time lol They're such an inconvenince!

No -blondy brown - not been in for a while though (petrol's cheaper across the road!
grin.gif
)

Do you live in Whaplode? We are just the other side of Holbeach so very close

If you get a dividend card you'll earn the money back you save going across the road lol

I kind of live in Whaplode, but right down the back roads, middle of nowhere....It's a derelict looking house with a derelict looking horse on the lawn lol

How do I get one of those?

Ours was looking a bit tired when we bought it but looks miles better now with new windows, bathroom and kitchen (oh and of course my 2yo stables and arena!)

The store has forms to fill in, you fill in your details then drop it back in, you hand it over when you pay for your goods, then at the bottom of your receipt it converts your points into a cash sum, you can either use the money to pay/part pay for your shopping etc or, do as I do, save them up and then spend it all on booze for xmas! I've got £20 odd on mine, but that's over the last 4 months, plus hubby drives an impreza so spends a fortune on fuel lol I have a modest little vitara.

My house is still pretty derelict on the outside, but we've had nothing but problems so far. Firstly the house is on a tilt, the original flagstones are all down, it turned out the floor isn't concreted, it's soil, lime then tiles in the lounge lol

But it's open plan to the dining room, which is floorboards, and that's all properly structured....kind of.....a few weeks after moving in we kept hearing noises in the walls, then in the loft above the bathroom.....

Walked into the kitchen one afternoon and there's a rat on my worktop!

Turned out there was a hole in the open, hollow bit under the dining room where a lead vent had been removed by the workmen. The rats were coming in through there, up into the walls and into the house!!

Cue a swift call to pest man and I refused to go home again 'til they'd sorted it....that's how I got my new kitchen lol I just couldn't prepare food in there after that, despite bleaching everything several times!

God you have had some problems! We had a mouse nest under the old shower tray but no other rodents - starlings have manged to get into the bleeding loft though and sit chattering above our bedroom half the bleeding night!
mad.gif
only until the weekend!

Will have to pop in and get a divvy thing - didn't know they still existed.

Does your hubby have a blue Impreza and drive Holbeach St John way in the mornings? One keeps passing us

Well I'm not quite Lincs but I am near Wisbech, Cambs.

I take my boy to some of the places Millar listed but also Manor Farm EC & lots of sponsored rides mainly thetford forest way.

Of course no-one mentioned Long Sutton show!! I'm sure I'll take my boy again to let him misbehave in the veteran classes, but hope to not get soaked again this year!!! I would love to meet other people and their horses at the show if anyone is going.

Doh! I'm with it today - meant to put it on - went to watch last year (no classes for me and OH's mare is a bit wild for LS) and got saked too - spent ages talknig to the greyhound people under their tent!

He used to Miller, he did work for a lorry firm out that way, now he's engineering at Greens in Whaplode.

Come in next week to pick up a form, after 2pm lol then I'll be there! I work 2pm-9pm 4 on 4 off, todays first day of 4 days off, so am back....um...Sunday!

I'm suprised any of you lot haven't passed me and Henry out walking, we go everywhere! If you ever do pass us pull over and have a word, we'd love it!

You'll tell if it's us, as I lead him out in a dark red fleece excercise sheet and roller, in a bridle. It's to cover his condition a bit but to the 'trained eye' you can see the bum's angular under there! He's 16.1hh bay with a too long mane, must pull it at some point, maybe when his neck isn't quite as pathetic!

Well this was us at Long Sutton last year. Getting soaked and looking very grumpy. The ridden class was after the in-hand and by this point the ground was rather wet and slippery. I hope the weather is better this year as I almost ended up being towed out...

Will def pop in to the Co-op - will PM you to find out when to come in! Obv not your bloke I see then - this guy goes to Crowland!

i didnt realise there were so many S Lincs people on hear. I used to live near Holbeach. My parents still live there and i go up all the time. I used to do all those shows and PC at Burghley. I shall look about next time i'm in Holbeach tescos!

Obviously not-unless there's something he's not telling me lol

His is the darker blue, not the standard bright blue they often are, V reg with spotlights, a big spoiler, huge exhaust and gold and silver wheels that cost way too much money, I think he's having some sort of crisis lol He's quite an extremist! before that he had a jacked up Toyota Hilux, mat black with enormous wheels, only it was stolen a couple of years ago and they rammed the McDonalds at the roundabout, opposite the services, if you remember that being done? It was the gang they had that huge police operation for, Operation Arctic, or Antartica, whatever it was, when they caught the gang going round doing the ram raids....

I remember going to see it after at Tears yard, he could have cried lol not only had they 'killed' his baby, but they'd swapped the wheels for little ones first pmsl, so he swore to get a sensible car...then came home with that.......

Yeah - this is the darker blue but is a 51 plate so not him! Bloke who drives is is v sensible for an Impreza driver!

I do remember that ram raid! How spooky is that (and just up the road from Kerilli's too!)

Where abouts are you at the back of Whaplode - PM me if you'd rather

Aran - now I'm always in there! Normally in dodgy horse stinky tracky bottoms or jods! I'm literally a mile from Holbeach out the back of Fleet Road garage down the back roads if you know it
