Long Term Tramadol Useage

So sorry to read this, I do think considering the pain relief she has been given and the fact you mention (no effect) and given her breed that's its quite possible it is bone cancer/tumours. My rottie started to limp on her fore leg 2 years ago and I was passed myself (I sat in the staff room upstairs) terrified whilst my boss x rayed her down stairs (me and my rottie are inseparable) so anything wrong with her stresses me out. They could not see anything on xray and I have kept her weight right down which I think helps hugely, and she gets loxicom when its particurlalrly stiff but not daily as I really don't like the long term effects it has but its good for moderate pain relief. She is still limpy on and off but otherwise for her age she is a picture of rottie health lol. I wish this could have been the outcome for you and your obs much loved dog, enjoy the time you have left with her, bless her heart x

In regards to the drugs like humans they have varied effects and some it really would be harsh to keep them on such strong meds, my akita had a really bad reaction to tramadol after her cruciate repair yet my rottie was fine on them after hers, same as me, tramadol makes me ill yet I take some horrendous meds for a medical condition I have involving the old brain lol.

big hugs to you both

Thank you, and for all your suggestions too :)

So sorry to read this LJR, I think you are doing the right thing for her.

Thank you :)

Thank you, yes they were pretty sure it was a bone tumour unfortunately :( pleased your Rottie is comfortable and happy, I agree that keeping them trim can make a huge difference, I keep all mine of a lean weight.

That took courage. Well done.

Alec.

Thank you :)
