Long vs short mane? & Pulling Tips..lots of PICS

As title really.. she currently has a longer mane than for plaiting, but I do a stallion/spanish like plait with it. She does ODE, XC, DR, SJ, Hunting, driving etc. Mostly SJ and Dressage though Do you think I should pull it or leave it as it is? Guess its more of a fashion thing

Any pulling tips for her tail? Its quite thin so i'm just wanting to neaten up the very top.. tried to pull last night but she really doesn't like it!

I can see photos if I go to your profile. I like the long mane, but that's not surprising as all my horses have long manes.

Personally, I pull her mane. You can always use a rake on her tail to neaten up the sides

I think the plait looks lovely, don't see wht you should shorten it really, I like the natural look!

Always been a fan of running braids so I'd say don't pull it... For the tail, you can trim instead. If she doesn't like it, it's cause it hurts. Why put her through that and risk getting injured yourself in the process when there are less traumatic/dramatic ways, right?

I can't see any pics either. I hate pulled tails so I would leave well alone, but I work with showjumpers and the SJ world's motto seems to be don't touch the tail! We don't even brush tails unless it is the day before a show, then they get washed and liberally sprayed with detangler before being brushed through. The next morning the get a quick comb through to remove bedding and tangles. Other than that they never get brushed and you'd be amazed at the difference it makes to the thickness. Our lot all have gorgeous, thick tails.

I had a quick look on your profile and I quite like your horse's mane the way it is, so unless you really need it short for showing I would leave it alone and just do a running plait for dressage etc. I don't like pulling manes, I cut them with scissors and thin with a rake or thinning comb. I've had a lot of practice with scissors though, so I can get a really neat finish.
