Long waterproof coat questions

I've just looked on the weatherbeeta site and Kyla isn't in stock except for xxs. They have some others though.

Forgotten about Kramer. I've got a nice padded coat from them which it was too warm for last year. Will have a look.

I had a Dryzabone for 20 ish years but it's heading for a skip these days!

I second the long jacket from Kramer. Surprisingly nice.

I spent a lot on a Stierna raincoat 3 years ago and it’s been worth every penny. It’s brilliant for riding and everything else. It kept me bone dry salmon fishing in horizontal rain last month.
Peaked hood that fits over helmet, high collar, an extra bit for covering the pommel of the saddle. Hi-Vis for horses back. Fully taped seams.
It’s the only brand that comes close to Gore-Tex in terms of waterproofness and breathability. (20,000 - I think).
I brought from GS equestrian and used the 10% discount.

Same. I have 2 Stierna coats now. The winter long and the rain (mid length). The rain one is larger (despite being thr same size as my winter one) but will do we well for layering on those not quite winter but not quite spring/warmer days

Stierna are amazing but I can't justify the cost!

I have a Le Mieux long coat but its too snug for a body protector underneath, if you want one under I would go for a Reincoat or Equidry.

My Stierna is going on 4 years now and aside from a velcro tab to close the sleeve falling off, it's still going strong. And it gets very abused!!

The Reincoat lite is definitely waterproof & I haven’t felt too hot yet!

In your situation I would go and do what the racing staff do as all ride in BPs. They usually have waterproof trousers and shorter jacket. PC racewear or Ornella. They will ride 2-3 lots a day so it needs to be good. I get pissed off with long coats so always end up in waterproof trousers anyway as get wet knees etc and I have a very good long coat which is 15,000.

I found dry robes too heavy, my long coat cost me £25 from our local garden centre/feed merchant. It’s that rubberised material so very waterproof and being unlined means I can wear it winter or summer

Equidry have a sale on their hi Viz coats ATM and after a torrential shower this afternoon I have given in and ordered one for £99.

I must say I absolutely love my Equicoat/ReinCoat. They do a lite version with no fleece in which would be more fitted I imagine but I have the winter one and it is so so comfy and great to ride in.

I've just had a look at PC racewear - new trousers were on the list too. I just need something that isn't going to have me sliding around in the saddle. Separates might work better for yard work too.

The racing stuff is good. I am just looking at a pair of trousers for myself as want to be able to ride well in them not just for hacking looking like a bin man.

My equidry lite small has arrived and it comes to the floor on me! It also fits my husband and my nephew! So a bit huge but they didn't have any xs left in the sale! It will certainly keep me dry and bramble won't need an exercise sheet!

I had a look on their sizing chart when I saw the sale and I'd need an xxs - which is out of stock.

I think I'd take off on a windy day in that!!

But the traffic would have no excuse not to slow down.....

I’ve just got a Drywalks which is the same company at Equidry. I’m very pleased with it and it will be great for dog walking or carriage driving. Mine is xsmall which I need not have worried about as it’s plenty big enough for me and quite smart. I did not want a tent. I like that their fabric has the higher rain rating and no doubt it will get tested.

I have got my hit air on over the top of it with another hi Viz. Ok I admit everyone has laughed at me but I won't get wet if caught out!!

After 18 months of consideration I've finally purchased an equidry pro ride in XXS. Yet to put it to the test but it fits well enough, with plenty of room for winter layers. I run cold so went for the full level 3 fleece. I think I'll mainly wear it watching clinics and it will be worth every penny just for that!

An Equidry of any flavour with a fleece lining is perfect for spectating or low level activity in cold weather. It keep legs warm as well the upper body and arms. The mesh lined ones are better for when you are more active.

Not convinced about either variety for riding in, though - IMHO they are too voluminous.

I have a cracking long coat from Harry Hall, it got really good reviews. I don’t know if they still do it though, it’s nice and fitted and I get lots of compliments on it.

I have a UHIP for cold weather, it’s a fabulous coat but not particularly waterproof, it’s more for cold crisp mornings.

I also have an equidry which I’m not sure about. I’m quite small and I’ve found even the xxs is huge. It’s good for sticking on over an outfit but it’s a bit muckle for continued use.

I have a pair of the waterproof breeches by Breeze Up and they're great - still going strong ten years after purchase (although I don't think I've washed them in those ten years!!) I wear tights underneath them usually, or thermal leggings if it's very cold.

Paired with my weatherbeeta kyla coat I am then dry pretty much top to toe

I have to take this back. Jacket leaked at the seams. I bought a short Mountain Horse jacket that seems to do the trick, paired with my waterproof breeches from Decathlon. Just in time, the autumn rains have started over here.
