LONGEST HORSE OWNER

I bought my 1st horse when I was almost 25 and she was 15, I had her til she was pts aged nearly 24. So not long compared with some of the people here. I have had my Forester since she was 8 months old, she is rising 8 now, I will never sell her so hopefully I will have her for a very long time.

I've owned horses for 18 years. Longest I've ever kept one was 7yrs. Shortest (thus far!) has been 2 yrs

I owned my old Arab for 19 years - I still miss him him 7 years later. My Icelandic I have owned for 12 years so far and my Russian horse I have had for 10 years. The other heavy is a relative newcomer as I have had her for 4 years and the mini I have had for 3 and a half years. Hope I have them all for many years to come.

I have had my mare for 18 years she is now 19. I have had my boy for nearly 7 years and i plan to have both of them for the rest of their lives.

Have owned mine for 32 years. He's 36 now and a bit stiff but still bucks and prances about sometimes like a 4yo. He won an open jumping class aged 20. He's a star!!!

Had my old girl from 88-06, so 18 years. She was 37 when she was PTS.

Had my current girl since 96, so 14 years and counting. She's 29 now, so not sure how much longer she'll be around, but I hope to have her for a good few years yet!

Well, nothing like as long as some of you on here, but the longest length of time I've had one is 14 years (bought as an 11yo, now 25 and still going strong!).

My others I have had for 10, 10, 9 and 8 years respectively .

I got my old boy when we were both 13, he was PTS three days before my 27th birthday and 6 weeks before his. New one has been with me nearly 5 years, he's now 14 and he'll be with me until the end as well. I don't think it will be until he's 27 though due to a few problems he already has which will get worse sooner or later.

I have yet to actually sell a horse I've owned, sooo...
First pony - 14 years (she was 4, I was 7 when I got her)
2nd pony - 9.5 years (we were both 12)
Horse - 6 years (12 and 15 respectively)

1st pony is cushingoid so probably won't be with us that much longer, but I'd like to think the other two have a fair while left - I'm aiming for at least 20 years out of my 2nd pony, and given she still acts like a 4 year old I think thats possible.

Owned Amber for 23 years, Merlin for 22 years
Honey 24 and Sunny for 19 years as I breed them
had them pts together. Jeeves 11 years, Kestrel 10 years, Skye on loan for 3 years and they were all put pts at home. Amber and Merlin again pts together as they had always been together.

Hi, I hope you all won't mind me posting about my horse as it is not totally relevant to this thread, but if I put my details on the Stolen Section it may not be such a friendly environment there.

As some of you seem to have had horses going back a few decades I wanted to see if anyone may recognise my horse Ballymoss, from the past. He was stolen in 1981, aged 12. He was 16.2hh chestnut t/b. We have never got over him being stolen and not knowing what became of him. We think he could have been in the Oxfordshire area in 1980s. It's possible in theory he could have lived into the late 1990s. (in 1995 he would have been about 26 years old, but of course he was a T/B). I will try and put photo here. I have been doing a retro search for him (he would be too old to be alive now) but I am still desperate after all this time, to know what happened to him. He was a lovely, gentle horse and someone, somewhere may have had him, without knowing he was once a stolen horse. Thanks for taking time to read this.
