Longleat

My daughter is doing the 3 day 90, according to their face book page they are now not sending the packs out we will collect them on arrival because the wrist bands arrived late! A bit worried about how we will get tickets to get in if we are not travelling with her.

I'm jut relieved I live close by. We are going and am amazed that there has been nothing online or in the post about it relating to entries, times, sections, speeds or passes. Gives me concerns about how the event itself will be run tbh.

been pretty poor communication to. speeds are online though.

Competition is supposed to start Friday and no one knows anything about it, what sections are we in, what are our times, what are the prizes - but that is fine as it is a bank holiday tomorrow so that leaves them plenty of time to sort all this out for Thursday when people start turning up!

Thanks for your replies. Have to say something Iv been looking forward to for months, and now I'm feeling decidedly nervous. I so hope it all comes together :)

Really hope it comes together for Longleat, it would be a great addition to the calendar.

It will be great ... weather is looking good to ... Only helping this year but am def doing next so I am sure it will be a firm fixture!

No times. Why on earth does the guy promise to do things and then never deliver. He needs to step away from Facebook as all he is achieving is upsetting and worrying everyone with his utter total lack of organisational skills.

Really wish I had never entered this farce.

Feeling the same. Hopes are raised that at last things are falling into place, then nothing.....
Still hoping though it comes together, but if the volunteers are being kept in the dark too??
Will be amazing if it all ends up being together, certainly feel they have maybe been over ambitious sadly at our expense.

I don't think it fair to say its over ambitious at our expense ... I guess there is a lot to do, from zero to a full blown event... there is always going to be a few problems, I think we just need to be a little patient. Having helped out at a couple of BE events I am now a lot more understanding when things don't seem to be happening in the way or at the speed we would hope.

Agree with the general sentiment, I'm afraid.. I'm very concerned that we don't have at least section lists up, even if actual times are not yet known - at least it gives you a chance to plan the day slightly. It's unclear whether you have to pay for your helpers to get in, and if so how much too. I'd assumed it would be free, but some mutterings from friends who are also going led me have have a closer look!!

I know these things take time to organise, but we're now less than two days from the site opening, and no-one seems to have a clue what's going on! If they say times are going up, they should put them up (or don't say anything at all!) I really hope they manage to pull something spectactular out of the bag at the last minute, but it's not looking at all optimisic. I think there could be a lot of us very disappointed.

This event is in danger of becoming a complete washout. No communication, when there is they say things that dont happen, I have a friend who paid for American Barn stabling - has since had a horrific accident and cannot ride - they are refusing to refund even her stabling money yet they state they have sold out all the stables! So they have had £350 for at least one (and probably more!)temporary stable! Wish I had never entered, if the organisation on the day is as bad as the communication now it will be a shambles....

They have finally put the times up for the 2 day not the 3 day yet which starts a day earlier. My sister is still on the list even though her horse died 4 months ago and they have been refunding her entry. See why she hasn't had the money back yet even though they claim to have paid it.

Having purchased my guaranteed entry last November and been working towards this event ever since, (albeit on another horse now) I hope to god that it goes off smoothly. Its terrible to have two friends that now can't go - one with broken leg, one with broken horse, and neither of them are going to get a penny back. The fact that we will be picking up all our tickets on the gate is silly - bet we're all sitting in a queue boiling our *******s while they sort out who is in what stable etc.

That said - its a fantastic event to try and pull off, I really hope they pull it all off without too many unhappy customers, and that we can do it again next year.

Well I went, and I think they did a fantastic job!! Yes there was a lot of problems with communication but they truly tried so hard and overall they did a fantastic job. It was a lot to take on and what they produced was amazing, dressage arenas, show jumping, and the amazing road, tracks, steeplechase, and fantastic well built cross country, it felt like a championship course, certainly lots needs tweaking, to get a thoroughly smoothly running event but I will definitely be hoping to be there next year. Thank-you and well done!!

I was going to go and watch but was put off by the entrance fee for spectators and what competitors were saying on the facebook page in the lead up to the event.
Glad those who did go had a good time though.

I went, did the 2 day 90 and came 4th! Really enjoyed it despite my worries, the steeplechase, roads and tracks and xc were amazing! The xc course was one of the best I have ridden, beautiful well made jumps. The hill we had to climb up and down did make life a bit difficult and I think that is something they need to address, as well as the errors on the scoring.... Showers were pretty disgusting too and only one food outlet stayed open - even that was closed on the Sunday night! Glad I chose to pay extra for American barn stabling, my horse is huge and would never have fitted in the normal ones. If they run it again I will probably enter is as the actual competing bit more than made up for the other niggles.

Oh, have the results been posted somewhere? Congratulations to you, by the way.
