Have begun longreining my nappy wont even go as far as the yard gate now horse, he is actually quite good at it, but I am not. How do I stop myself getting tangled up in the
lunge reins? I keep finding my hands getting caught in the loops if he goes on too fast
and can see me getting dragged behind ! Also I have read that you shouldnt ever long rein on the road, but this is where my problems are, going out the gate and down the road.
have had someone help me but I seem to be cackhanded , is there a technique or just practice ?
I begin to think that soon he wont even set foot out of his paddock the way hes going !

Get someone in front to lead and never ever put your hands through loops whilst long reining/lungeing! Our old YM broke his hand cos of this-ha, serves him right!

Cinnamontoast, I need him to go forward with no one in front, thats the problem, he is quite happy following but need him to go out on his own. Meant that I coil the extra line up but it seems to tighten up on me! 'Im indoors has just said tie knots at intervals up the line, sounds like a good idea, (he never has good ideas !)
