Just about to start breaking my 16hh youngster and wondered which length longreins would be most suitable. I don't want to be too near the engine but don't want loops of spare lines for me to trip over. What length longreins would be most suitable?

We use the standard length cottage craft cotton ones, sold as lunge lines

They are really durable, but thin enough that the spare coils in your hand aren't bulky. They are also a nice weight to use.

i like mine to be over 25ft, most lunge lines are too short for turns and changes of direction in trot.

i bought some fab new ones at Badminton which are really lightweight cotton and about 3 feet longer than standard lunge lines.

I use 30 feet Aerborn long-lines, I ordered them from the Intelligent Horsemanship society. I like them as there are no loops or handles to make them fiddly and they are plenty long enough.
