Just thought I would introduce my new purchase who I bought today. Please forgive the poor photography - they were taken just as she got out of the horsebox after an hour and a halfs journey as I wanted some straightaway so that I can keep up with her progress!
This is Kenzi. She is 2 and a half years old and a New Forest X. Currently standing just at 14hh. We took the box when we went to see her as I had already spoken to the owner on the phone and she was totally honest and I liked the sound of her already! I've always had TBs so this is going to a culture shock for me - hopefully in a good way. She is also my first youngster. She walked straight into the horsebox and fell asleep on her way home! Couldn't fault her!
Any feed ideas for a pony of this age? I just gave her speedibeet and high fibre cubes tonight and she polished that off, but should I get her something more nutritious?
Anyway, introductions over......unfortunately standing square wasn't on her list of priorities when I took the photos!

She looks lovely! Good luck with her - I got my first youngster (15 mths) last year. it's great fun watching them develop. Feed wise - not much advice really. Depends on your grazing i guess. We have a fair few acres for ours but they get plenty of hay in the winter months and we're feeding ours sugar beet, some fibre cubes and alpha a basicall. I have added a vitamin supplement for all of ours though but they do have a mineral lick in the field anyway.

HH I love her!!! I love how her tail is set too, like a TB. She looks slightly like a TB too. Do I sound like a Golf car advert! I dont care if I do, she is like a TB, but not one!!!

she looks lovely, why not just feed the same as today and add some sort of balancer to make sure she gets all the minerals and vitamins she needs. she looks in pretty good condition to me ... have lots of fun with her....:D

I wondered if there was some TB in her too as I don't know what she is crossed with. Looking at her passport she was bred down in Brockenhurst in the New Forest by someone called Mr J A King, but apart from that, there is no pedigree on there....someone at the yard mentioned the tail too!

She is a lovely little mare HH, so chuffed for you, she looks a real sweetie, have lots of fun with her. Hope your doing ok? x

Yes I'm fine thanks, although I have to admit I did shed a few tears when I bought her today - not sure why - it kind of felt wrong to be getting another one only five weeks after Rebel went....or maybe I was crying at the thought of now having to muck two out!
How are you keeping? xx

I bet it was emotional and strange in a way, she looks lovely and you look very happy in the pics. I am ok, coping, miss her terribly still and am desperate to have another but I just don't have the money for what I want for a few months yet, it is a bit rubbish but that i life sometimes. You will have to post regular updates xx

Do you not fancy a youngster like this? She was pretty cheap.....£600. The only downside is that I will have to wait a while to break her...
It's not me in the photos - I wish I was that thin! That's one of my best friends who came with me (and she has a good eye for a horse, so I trusted her judgement!)

:)Wot a stunner!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:)
You look chuffed!

What colour tack and rugs you gonna get for such a beauty? I think green be lovely?

Well she came with a turnout rug and a stable rug, so I'll stick with those for now....but yes, I think green would be nice when it comes to choosing colours...I'm normally quite boring and just go for white numnahs and saddlecloths! I'm already looking at schedules for inhand classes!!

Well I am after something ideally between 2-6 so i can bring it on, Seren was 2 when we got her so another young mare would be ideal. That is a bargain. I have seen some mares I like i could afford but they are way too far away, like towards Scotland! It would cost a fortune in fuel to get there and back so a false economy unless I bought blind. She is a little cracker for £600 HH, very pretty. I am looking every day so hopefully the right one will come along and I can buy it. Has to be a mare, and has to be a heavy cob/gypsy cob, preferably a piebald so I can do some in hand showing too :)

She looks lovely. I would give her Alfa, speedibeet and high fibre cubes and plenty of good hay. Used to feed our youngsters an all in one codlivine supplement and stick to a good worming programme. She looks in good shape for a 2.5 year old. Have fun and don't be sad. Just a different path because you loved your boy so much. They are all unique, never a replacement. Enjoy her and keep all the memories of your boy sacred.

Hi,
she is absolutely gorgeous you lucky thing. Would use suregrow balancer in with feed. Made for youngstock but can be fed to any age and really reasonable price per bag.

Totally gorgeous pony, my 1st horse was a NFxTB and was the best horse i have ever known and had the pleasure of owing. Good luck.

Why dont you give one of the feed companys a quick call for feeding advise.

I always ask the previous owner what they are feeding when I buy a horse. That way you can change their feed gradually to what you want.

Yes I did that and they were feeding sugar beet, high fi and pony nuts which is why I am giving her speedibeet and high fibre cubes. She hoovered it up last night and this morning, so I can get her some hi-fi to add to it as well and then she hasn't been changed too much.

Why thank you!!! :p

I'm so chuffed you got her, thought she was fab as soon as we saw her!!! Just goes to show that its best to see them in the flesh than just off photos.

Hmmm, going to have to get you kitted out and up to speed with showing...!!! :)

Well done Zimzim, yes get them both out showing next year, it will be a super education for the pony.
