My friend looked at a tb today which had a slight bursitis on hind hock the vet has said that it is a blemish and will not and does not cause the horse any probs just wondered if this would put any one off and if any body has any experiences with this!the horse is 3000 pounds? any advice greatly recieved!xxxx

Depends what she wants the horse for! If she wants to show, no blemish is acceptable, if it is anything else and doesnt effect performance, wouldnt bother me.

What does your friend want said horsey for? Depends on what age the horse is and what is expected of it as too whether it will be a problem. Ask yourself how much would you be prepared to pay for it if it didn't have the blemish then you will know whether it has been priced accordingly.

I wouldn't have thought that hacking would be a problem but you won't get away with a blemish in a show class. If you were thinking of doing any jumping at the shows the bursitis could become a problem in the future and at only 6 years old, to me, it would be a big gamble. Your friend also has to think of the resale value of a horse with this problem and I think 3 grand is a bit steep for a young horse with a potential problem.
If the horse suits in every other way and your friend could put up with not going to the shows if it becomes a problem and they are prepared to give it a home for life and cover the costs of any potential vet bills in the future - I would negotiate on the price.

not really relevent, but I have bursitis in both my hips, and its awful, can barely hobble some days and Im only 21. I wouldnt buy a horse with it knowing how painful it is for me..
