Can anyone give tips about looking after a suede saddle?

I have suede cleaner and a proper suede brush, but can't seem to get it clean. Is there another way, or perhaps someone who could professionally clean it for me?

Also, is there a way to protect it from daily wear and tear, and to waterproof it from the rain!?

There used to be foam cleaner for shoes when hush puppies were all the rage [1968?], also a kind of soft rubber , too late for any preventative I think, but ther are waterproofing aerosols said to be OK for boots [camping shops]

One of my jumping saddles is suede it's several years old and has stood up well despite it belonging to a horse who hunts a lot ( I would not have chosen a suede saddle for a hunter but it was a big surprise that this horse chose hunting as his job)
We just brush it lightly with a suede brush if it's wet and muddy we let it dry and then brush, we shift stubborn marks by using a very hot well wrung out towel on the mark allowing to dry then brushing .
When I first got it I used suede protection spray on it but I don't now I am not sure it helped at all .
