Looking before leaping, moving to England with horse to Herts/Beds area. Any advice?

Thanks EllenJay, beginning to get a picture of the areas to concentrate the search on:D

One other question:o:o (sorry) but whats the area like for availability of farriers/vets/feed etc...is it a hens-teeth kinda of situation, or is it a bit better?

I'm coming from a hens-teeth situation re. vets and farriers and am so keen to avoid a repeat of waiting days or weeks for any professional to bother calling to me:(

For the Luton area we have a nice selection of Farriers and vets (Icknield, Berry House, Chris Harris and RVC), there are 3 farriers and 3 vet practives that people use just on our yard and the Royal Vet College is not too far away.
Feed merchants are also nearby, for example GW Titmuss in Wheathampstead, Equisense near Flitwick, TC Feeds in Kensworth, Browns in Slip End, Clarkes in Stevenage, Feed Bin and Gravenhorse (mobile feed merchants) etc, etc etc!!

In the areas you are looking there are plenty of vets, farriers, feed merchants and tack shops etc. It is always worth getting some local/riding club mags as these often have livery advertised. I used to keep my horse near Woburn Woods (in woburn sands) and that was fab hacking.

If you are working in Luton it is worth pointing out that going south on the M1 from MK area is a bloody nightmare in the mornings!!

Love the Pics :)

Thanks lilaclomax and Allover,
sounds better than here anyway, one farrier, one store type of place  will keep traffic info in mind while looking for a place too! Cheers :D

I live about 5 mins from Titmus near Wheathampstead.
As previous posts have said, there are many yards with great hacking and more vets, farriers, tack shops than you can hope for!
BUT, property here is expensive, even to rent.

Would certainly suggest that you come over for a weekend and do some house and yard hunting. Try the BHS website as a starter for a list of yards in the area you are interested in and then take in some of the local tack shops (or call then beforehand to see what they have on their noticeboards). Be prepared for the better yards to have no vacancies so you may need to put yourself on a waiting list.
Good luck
