I've been looking for a new black bridle for Gov to replace his Kieffer which is 4 years old and starting to look a bit crinkly so i'd like to relegate it to a schooling bridle.

I can't seem to find one I like though. I'd like something like the really padded Kieffer and Albion ones but most of the nosebands i've seen are a bit flimsy and narrow for G's head, plus they're normally flash nosebands.

At the moment i'm considering buying a double bridle and removing the bradoon hanger or something but that probably won't work and quite a few aren't split headpieces because of the 'comfort' bit. But the noseband/browbands on these are much more substantial and would suit G better.

Any recommendations please?

Have you been to Ingatestone saddlery- they have loads of Keiffer ones on offer- I bought mine a dressage bridle- really well padded reduced from £94 to £50 in fact they also had a couple of Albions there too.

The Albion KB comfort bridle is very padded and comfy

The noseband is nice and thick and suits my big warmblood. I am sure there are 2 thicknesses of noseband though as I have seen some that are not that thick - though my one is. You just need to ask and also order a cavesson f thats what you want. I am coveting their special double bridle they have brought out which is part rolled leather but still has a nice thick noseband. Its over £300 though

Albions are beautiful

And they do a variety of different dimensions of noseband,. and do a cavesson. Really really love mine

Waulhausen rolled leather bridle looked fab on my horse but he did have a smallish head, from derby house about £120 or equiport for £220!!

I saw that one in an Olney catalogue a couple of years ago but can't seem to find it online.

He hasn't got a huge head - infact Full can be a bit big but he's got that slightly stallion-ish bump in his nose which lends itself to either a chunky noseband or a very fine one (his brown bridle is a rolled one).

i am led to bel that derbyhouse took over olney and i bought mine as they were taking over, ihave seen it since advertised with derby house and equiport(same bridle i believe) the adjustments can be made on the head piece and that lends to making smaller alterations,,,as long as your horse doesnt have an enormous head i would think it would look nice on him??

The Sabre Cordoba range is GORGEOUS!!! Bear in mind this is a F/S bridle on a head that was really and ExF/S...
