Looking for a horse for a friend

I’m looking for a 15-16 h horse for a friend and her daughter. A safe hack, doesn’t need to enjoy jumping or schooling. Not too bossy with other horses. In Scotland (but north of England fine too). Budget not too high. Cob type. Where do you look for these types? Is £4-5k enough to find a decent one??

The market may well be flooded with such types going into winter, just keep an eye out on Facebook. There is a guy based in NE England who buys practically anything in Scotland and sells them on ..beware. Not sure about your budget, I’ve found prices in Scotland higher for a similar one in England.

I think your budget is a bit low@kirstineridesagain if you’re looking for a safe experienced hack but you just don’t know what’s about until you start looking. It make depends if you can overlook some things.

Yes, I have a feeling the budget may be a bit low too. But hopefully she’ll up it if the perfect horse comes along and is slightly more.

It's enough money to buy unbacked and produce yourself, or an older horse that needs maintenance. Otherwise, the budget would probably need to double

Is the the Cob type because of your friend's weight or preference? If preference, on that budget you're going to need to compromise unless it's old. An ex racer would fit your bill.

No, doesn’t have to be Cob because of rider size. I don’t think they want an ex racer.
