The lame loan horse will be going home in the next few weeks come hell or high water so.....I'm thinking about looking for another horse

BUT, before I get carried away I'm not sure that it will be a wise decision! I have a 3 yr old who wasn't ready to back this year (WB - still immature) so I decided to leave her til next year and I bought a foal this year which will come home at weaning in September.

I'm half thinking about leaving it till the spring before I buy something else - that way I only have 2 to cope with all winter. OH thinks that's daft and I should go and buy one as soon as horsey has gone.....

Am undecided..... help please

If you buy one now you will have some of the summer for him/her to settle down and get to know each other. If my oh was as supportive I would have bought one the same day lol.Go for it you lucky thing any news on loan pony owner.

could you loan something? A school master/comp horse that you could go out and have fun on - you may find you have rather a lot on your hands when the 3 yr old comes into work?

Not heard yet, there was a special delivery letter sent to her yesterday so she won't get it till tomorrow.

I'm actually quite worried about the whole buying thing.....

I have bought before - but I usually buy them as foals and grow them on. Timing is just a bit out this year cos the 3yr old didn't mature as quickly as expected.

Have been brave though and phoned up about a warmblood mare not far from here - typically they're not in!!

Am not going to rush - there is no hurry at all

Go on get another!! My only advice from experience is probably of the somewhat obvious variety..... Don't buy a mad lame one!!! Good luck finding something.
