been looking for a pony for my 11 year old,he wants one and keeps on to me all the time but our 4 horses are not suitable for him although he does do everything he can with my 17hh warmblood but as you can imagine he cant really reach past the top of his leg !!!lol he has ridden him in the paddock but my big man isnt keen on schooling !!!

anyway im looking for an older pony who has been there got the t-shirt so that my lad can get on him and have some fun and learning at the same time without me panicing and being the worrying mum !! im thinking of about 13.2 max loan or buy but not in its thousands !!!!

You could also try some of the rescue charities. I used to work for one and they always had small ponies coming out of their ears, many of which had been through pony club etc with several children.
 
I have been having this problem too, having been to see several ponies I am fairly convinced that there are no sensible ponies left! Some described as 'ideal lead rein pony' tend to be only safe ON a lead rein, 'I' would think twice about riding them off it!! Some 13hh ponies are 11.2hh others are 14.2hh at least the mares I have seen are actually mares, and the geldings all geldings,bar one!
It's enough to drive you mad!!!!!
 
They are about! I have a bombproof 14.2hh coloured cob which is a dream to ride and my eleven yo son hacks out regularly, he is excellent on fun rides and shows and jumps for fun, and he is for sale

Thats exactly what we are looking for...not found one yet and have you seen how much some of them go for??...one on PC webiste at £10K!!! Wld rec. the PC web site though as we were considering one and managed to chat it through with their DC which helped and gave another perspective....ie we didn't get it!
 
14.2 is just a little to big atm,id say up to 14hh,had a look on the pc website and yes they are abit pricey for what im looking for !!! although i came across a cracking mare today but she is only 4 but spot on in traffic and a lovely colour,just want something a little older for my lad !!!!
