How do I go about it? I'm looking for someone to look after or even just ride her then turn her out during the week, about 4 days, because I'm sure she would appreciate a day off once a week. This would be a written agreement so it isn't just them doing a favour for us, we would want it so they are enjoying it and doing it voluntarily.
I would want her on the weekend, as that is the only time I get to see her. I have heard that many people who share a horse pay for it, although I don't think we could charge, as there would be very few weekend days available, unless I was on holiday/couldn't make it for some reason.
I'm looking for someone very experienced and confident in both handling and riding.

Is it possible to get this sort of arrangement? And where do I advertise? And I take it we don't charge for it?

Sorry, so many questions

Would appreciate any opinions/advice etc...

Thanks!

hey,
I would put up a local ad in your tack shops - this confirms you will get someone local and will prob know the area well too.
A written contract is a good idea and many people who own horses do work shifts as it then frees up days in the weeks for shows and less traffic...so I dont think you will have any problems finding someone just for the week. You will also get someone more mature too...
I was going to share my little pony due to not wanting her to go out on loan but the road my field is near to is very busy and with her being small it was mostly children who replied...in the end I put her out on loan - didnt charge anything.
I think it is best not to charge if possible and you should get quite a few replies...

Place some ads in local tack shops but also ask around. I advertised on a few web sites (I got most response from newrider) but found my sharer through someone at my yard. Just be patient and prepared to wait for the right person. My horse also needs someone confident to handle and ride him and I did have a couple of people interested who would not have managed him.
I used to share a horse under a similar arrangement to the one you are looking for - she was near where I worked but not convenient for home so weekdays were perfect. Again that was through word of mouth as my friend had a horse on loan at the yard. There will be someone out there who would find that arrangement suitable - good luck finding them

Thanks Hullabaloo - glad you find the right sharer for your horse in the end. I am in no real rush though, and can't afford to pick the wrong person for her. Thanks, I will look ino new rider...
