Looking for advice on fly rugs

I didn't post my thread for people to piggy-back on nor for constant none helpful comments and to be honest I've found yours among the least helpful so far Faracat, please refrain from continuing that trait. I'm sure if people want that kind of info they'd read threads that were looking for that sort of thing, which of course I'm not. Maybe I should have added "cheap" or "decent price" to my thread title but I think I was pretty clear on what I was looking for from the start. Also, I did not suggest anyone here was rich, I simply said people on here have been accused of being snobby and do seem to only recommend expensive brands.

On another note, I don't suppose anyone knows some sort of catalogue for horse tack such as this that will allow to pay off in instalments? I'd be most interested if there was one.

People do read other people's threads for help though. There is a search function, so anyone who searches for fly rugs will find your thread. I don't think that you should see this as an issue, it's just part of having a thread on a public forum. You did make it clear what price you were after, but just as you can't control who reads your threads (or piggy backs onto them in your words), you can't control what people reply. Again it's part of having a thread on a public forum, so please don't get upset by it, just pick out the bits that are helpful to you. Although you found my posts unhelpful, I was actually posting with the intention of being helpful. OK, so I failed. It happens. I was bemused by your post about returning the outgrown rug, but that has been well and truly covered, so no point in rehashing that.

theres a saying "buy cheap and you buy twice". its very true. unfortunately cheap rugs tend to last for only a short time and work out expensive because another rug has to be bought to replace it.
Better to save up and buy a good one its cheaper in the long run.

Just an idea, but I get most of my fly rugs from the same place that does rug repairs/washes. They often have second hand rugs in for sale and many just have minor repairs to them that can be bought for half (or less) than the original price. I've seen a few equine laundries advertising this type of thing so maybe that way you can afford a better quality rug without the price tag?

This happened all the time at my old yard, people looked down there noses at me as I save up to buy a better quality rug and I'm branded a snob with money to burn.... I'm not the one buying 2,3,4 fly rugs every season due to the poor quality of a cheap rugs its a no brainer.

You are quite right "buy cheap and you buy twice"

I hate to say it but its funny, people in the area I have my pony in have warned me about people on H&H being snobs who only recommend expensive brands, I'm starting to see that here. I tried to give you guys the benefit of a doubt but all I'm seeing is exactly what I was warned about. Fact is, despite on owning a horse, some of us can't afford such luxuries and therefore have to consider cheaper products or find something that is obviously going to last and worth what we pay for! I did state at the beginning of my thread how much I'd really be considering, if its too cheap to you then fine but that's not helpful to me, nor is arguing with me about my point of view in regards to return policies. Hell, you could at least point me to some good offers or ways to pay for these things in much easier and more manageable methods but all I get is "you get what you pay for" and "what an odd attitude" for hoping for something that'll last or comes with some kind of guarantee reassurance. I think at the end of the day we all want that and as horse owners you should be a little more understanding about affordability. And before anyone starts on whether I should even have one in regards to affording one; fyi I can afford to keep my pony healthy and happy, even if it means I have to go without I'll do it just for her sake! As far as I'm concerned no one has to splash out and spend ridiculous amounts on these animals and no one should and its no thanks to attitudes like this that those vendors continue to sell for extortionate amounts because those of you who have more money than sense just continue dictating that its "what you pay for" rather than accepting the fact that you're paying too much and certainly more than what most people can afford! If all you want to do is argue, be rude or blatantly point me to something I never even asked for then please just refrain from responding. I do appreciate your opinion but it doesn't help me shop around for a coat which my pony really needs which I think is most important.

How extremely rude.

Speaking from years of experience, having wasted money on cheap fly rugs (infact I’ve binned 2 this summer already :( ) I sincerely wished I had saved and bought the Rambo, as having had this on a previous horse I know it stands up to a lot. It was a false economy for me for sure... buy cheap buy twice!!

May I suggest ebay ? ? If your pony really needs this ‘coat’ for his/her welfare then perhaps you shouldn't alienate people who are genuinely trying to share experiences and offer advice.
