Also in NL...

After seeing a few posts on here not sure if you peeps can help...

I have a client who is in her 60s and has just taken up riding. She adores horses but is very nervous due to starting a little later in life. She is a lovely lady and just wants a horse she can cuddle, groom and learn to ride on. Her ambition is to be able to walk out (and a bit of trot) with friends.
She will be the first to admit that she is a novice and a nervous rider there for she is currently only riding with tuition or help from more experienced liveries.
She had brought what she was lead to believe was a very quiet first horse but sadly this horse is not suitable and would be better in a PC type home.

I now have the task of finding a true saint for this lovely lady (who is currently very upset after the realisation that the other horse is not suitable)

So in short does anyone know of a 14.1-15hh ish weight carrier type for this lady. Must be a real plod/ kick along. Age/ looks the odd health problem not an issue.

The yard is a lovely relaxed farm type yard with lots of hacking/ grazing and company. And experienced hand on yard managers.
The horse will never want for a thing (each time Ive been to teach current horse has a new item of clothing!)

Limited budget could possibly part ex if someone wanted something a little more sporty!...this will be a home for life

Please no ear bashing this is a nice post as Ive been trawling the adds looking for something and hit a bit of a wall

Any help (pm if you would rather) would be appreciated

We are based Surrey way and as I have limited time would rather not have to travel miles to the right horse but will if needed!

If you don't mind a horse a little bit bigger I may have just the horse for you!!! he would be around the 16hh mark.

A friend of mine is looking to sell/lease/loan her 17 year old plodder .. he has more in him if you really want it and ask for it - so always a little bit more if the rider gets more confident. He hacks alone and in company, had done up to novice dressage and will jump a small course of jumps. he is most happiest doing very little and is very easy to do on the ground.

Very healthy and sound - lots of years left in him yet.

Nice looking horse as well - Irish sports horse type - chestnut with a white blaze. Currently at livery near Tonbridge, Kent. PM me if you would like more details and if it looks like a match can put you in touch with the owner

Hi I wish we could be a bit more flexible on height but 15hh (ish) mark would prob be the max so the lady can tack up etc sorry...if your boy shrinks in the next week or so please let me know!!

Contact the RDA - they have a list of horses that are either for permanent loan/small amount. And not all have to go to RDA homes/yards I don't think :)

teapot (love the name!!) that would be perfect did not think they did that. thank you :-)

thank you for the pms too this lady is lovely and would give an older horse a fab home...if/ when I find a horse I will let you all know...the search continues!!

Well I know there's a current list (I volunteer with them), what's on it I don't know. But like I say, I don't think they HAVE to go to RDA homes, guess it depends on the owner...

what is the web site? or do I google local RDAs? I know there is one in Epsom

National website is here: http://www.riding-for-disabled.org.uk/

There's a contact us form you can fill in. I'd just say 'I was wondering if you know of any suitable horses to fit x, ideally a RDA horse would fit the bill, could you put me in contact with any groups that may have something' or something.

Someone will get back to you. Otherwise give me a shout as I can get access to the list ;)

I'm so gutted you are that far away, I'm in Northumberland. We have a 14.1 cob that is 110% bombproof but hates cantering, will walk and trot happily but is a pain to canter and my sister is ready for an upgrade. How frustrating

Retired polo pony... the VAST majority are total angels, they're so used to being handled en-masse they are easy peasy to do everything with. There are plenty around the 15 hand mark and once they get to 16-18 y.o. they are usually given away to good homes.

Best of all they never nap or hot up - they're just so used to doing what they are told!

There are lots of clubs around Surrey, you'll be spoilt for choice, just look on the HPA website for local clubs and start calling around.

CR you have made me smile look in NL I've put same thread up most nice comments then the bashing started!!!

I've spoken to client today and I'm now on mission pony.... And of you want to bring your ponies down from miles away I'd be tempted to meet you half way...!

Did you see Charlie76's post in the one in NL she could well have the one for you but it is rather buried in the usual tripe you get! Shame, I had just what you want but he is already making an older ladies dreams come true! (who sold her PC/teen hack as it was not suitable ;))

Definitely contact a few polo clubs-if you need advise on which ones are good let me know and I can point you in the right direction :D
Just put our old polo pony out on loan- they are so easy as they just know what is expected of them- make ideal horses to learn to ride on!
Most are about the 15.2hh/15.2hh mark but a few will be smaller :D.
