Sorry to hear about the doggy :(

Robert Shirt did a wonderful painting of our Lola dog for my other halfs Christmas present a while back, I was so pleased that I then got one done of mum's horse for her birthday! Desperate for him to do one of my boy too, will get that as the next one, every picture he does he puts so much time and effort in, I got regular emails from him to show me the stage he was at and make sure I was happy, and he was just a lovely guy all round and fantastic prices. Would always recommend him to anyone! If you google Robert Shirt i'm sure he will come up :)

There is many artists that is very good at animal portraits to choose between, here is just a few that I know of:

Pilar Larcade http://pilar-larcade.com/frame.html

Jenny Lupton http://www.jennylupton.com/dogportraits.htm

Laura Barber-Riley http://www.laurabarber-riley.com/page3.htm (She mainly seems to paint horses, but there is a very good painting of two dogs in her gallery too.)

Mark Langley http://www.mark-langley.com/portraits.htm

Jennifer Deakin http://www.pet-portrait-painting.co.uk/#!dog-gallery-1/c1y0u

Gina Hawkshaw http://sportingart.co/gallery/cats-and-dogs/

Rebekah Adshead http://www.ramelia-images.com/gallery.html

Lorraine Clivery http://www.pastelpals.co.uk/dogs.shtml

Karen Herbert http://www.petportraits.freeserve.co.uk/

Patricia Clark https://www.facebook.com/patriciaclarkart (Another artist who mainly seems to do horses, but there is also a dog portrait on her page.)

Lindsay Mathers is a friend of mine, she's really good at a variety of media depending on what style you'd like.

Whoever you end up going with I hope you get a lovely painting :)

Take a look at Photo Finish on FB. Its not drawings but actual photo editing. They've done lots of dogs and horses and they have a £10 per edit offer on till the end of this week.

A lot of their stuff is ghastly! Maybe suitable for people who can't get a telegraph pole out of a photo but as a substitute for a piece of art, especially as a gift which is also a memoriam for a much-loved pet? No!

I actually love their work and have ordered some myself. Each to their own I suppose!
