Looking for Black beauty foal 14.3hh-15.3hh

Following on from my other thread my husband and I have thought long and hard and are considering getting a foal if I can't find my black beauty as well as a lovely alrounder we can both share so that when the foal is fully matured and backed (we will be getting a professional to come to us to do this to make sure it gets the best start we can give it!) I will have my black beauty and he will have the alrounder. So the question is does anyone out there have a foal that might fit the bill or knows of anyone else who has one? As always thanks for taking your time to read this.
 
I have over the years although not owned a young foal have had and brought on many youngsters and have a 2 1/2 year old 13hh at the moment, I have helped family and friends with theirs. The woman who owns the yard and the other girl who has a horse on the fields have had many foals over the years of all types and walks of life even down to rescue foals, so there is a wide range of knowledge in our yard.
 
Firstly, is there a reason you want a black horse? There are lots and lots and lots of VERY nice horses out there that are grey/bay/dun/ et al.
If you do go down the foal route however, I would suggest you get a pair, as foals really do need company of the same age to play and develop with (and the older guys dont alway appreciate this rough housing!).
Then buy the book From Birth To Backing. And read it front to back, and back to front.
 
I don't deny that there are sone fantastic horses/foals out there that are other other colours but forever I have I wanted a black horse and as I am looking for my forever friend/compainion is stands to reason that I look for my ultimate horse. I would like to point out that I am not saying that I don't like/would buy any other colour but just have my heart set on a black horse, I don't mean to upset anyone by saying I just want a black horse but as I am in no rush I can't see it's any harm in finding my ultimate horse, afterall aren't we all in the end, some of us are lucky enough to have found them already :)
As for having more than one foal I do have a 2 1/2 yrs and my yard owner has 2 3yrs who are all extremely playful would they be enough for a foal? I hope that explains things a little bit more? :D Open to all suggestions and asstance. And thank you so much for those who already have.

Sadly 14hh will be too small :( thank you though.
 
I generally use a pony to go out with the odd weanling that doesn't have a field mate. I certainly wouldn't be buying several foals when there is a pony available! Google for Friesan Studs in the UK and then hop in the car and get looking.... http://www.friesian-equine.co.uk/
Most foals will be weaned or being weaned by now so you won't have to wait too long for your purchase to arrive!
 
i dont mean to cause offence but i am concerned about why you are so hung up on getting a BB lookalike and your direct lack of knowledge/experience in dealing with babies. As I say i dont mean to cause offence but if i was selling i would be very concerned and would be look for references and reassurances on your capabilities.
I know that there are some unscrupulous people out there so be careful in your search for BB.

Good for you, stick to your guns, if you have your heart set on a black horse and you can take your time to find the right one then go for it.

I love a chestnut personally, we all have our favourites.

Everyone has to have a "1st foal" at some point and it sounds like you have got people around you with plenty of experience not to mention your own previous involvement with youngstock.

I hope you find your dream horse / foal soon and wish you the best of luck with him /her. :)
 
Do a lot of trawling through studs' own websites for the breeds you fancy. I think its cool you want a black horse, and you can get more for your money buying young if you aren't in a rush to get riding. Try finding an experienced driving pony the same colour, height, breed and stride length to match the one you've got like I did a couple of years ago - now that is too specific! A black foal should be easy by comparison. :cool:
 
So you want what you want, you have not had a foal before, sorry but no big deal clearly you are not stupid and have horses. There are lots of welsh up for sale we are getting two black sec d in oct, there is a big difference between the price of a friesian and a sec d, you are quite welcome vicki to come and look at my babies, I have a yearling friesian, a welsh, also the babies in oct. Having a foal is as hard as you make it, my coming 3 year old are well behaved and I had never had a foal before.
 
I was the same. Wanted a black horse. walked into a dealers yard one day & Molly stuck her head over the door. i said "i want that one"!! The dealer said "she might be just what u were looking for actually". Tried her, loved her, bought her & 10 years later, still got her! Id always wanted a white one & a black one. the white one came 18 months before Molly :-D

Mine in my avatar is a Burnmoor baby with Nebo lines :) When the sun is on her back, she has lovely dapples. Not a true black as she has a pink nose.
 
I always wanted a black horse so cant shout you down for that one.

Have you looked on freeads? There is a woman who imports alot of FPS registered friesians from Holland (she is dutch) on that website and she normally has something.

Shame I've just sold a black friesian colt by fetse 349 , all fps reg for 1500 due to climate
There are bargain black beautys out there just got to keep looking
 
try posting this in breeding, lots of breeders there, might have something suitable?? shame you want black, I have a stunning dark bay (though goes almost smokey dun in summer!) wpb youngster, medium build and will mature around 15hh/15.1HH!!

Faracat that first one isn't black!!! it's dark bay!!!!??!!!

Got to stick to my guns now :p black it will be but does sound lovey.
The first on though does claim to be black maybe it's the light...does nothing for it complexion :cool:

I had thought that she might be sun-bleached (I used to own a true black that did fade unless you put a fly sheet on him during the summer) or she's actually dark bay, however she looks nice enough for at least a phone call to check with the owner. ;)
