Just moved to fife from Angus and looking for recommendation on good farrier. Previously used Neil Chalmers who was fantastic. Dave Wilson not taking anymore clients. Tried Gary Hood & after 2 wks all my clenches are coming out and 4 the first time ever my boys hooves are cracked from clenches down :(. Any suggestions greatly appreciated!!!

I know alot of people rate Douglas Crawford, I used to use the Balfour Brothers, they were excellent. They look like a couple of crocs and I used to worry they would keel over by the way they breathed and weezed and smoked but they did a fab job and were really good with all my ponies and horses and I have had 2 really naughty ones. one pony used to limb over his back and he used to stay calm and carry on, the other mare wont pull her foot forwards so they have to dressed on the ground and he still made them look pretty. We used them for about 15 years and so they were really good to us and would come out the following day if we needed them but we always paid cash and held the horses and gave them coffee etc. Never had any foot problems in the time we had them and my mares feet improved immensly with them-Im a fan!:o
There was another farrier from fife someone that we used at a show and he hit the underbelly of my pony with a rasp so I woud not recommend him he has a short fuse-Mum just led the pony away and didn't pay him after he did that  (PM me if you want to know his name)

I'm not sure how far he covers, but know Andy Dryburgh is based in Fife and I'd have him do my horse if he worked in my part of the world. He patched up B at Blair when the toerag ripped off a shoe in the warmup and he was very patient with him. Can PM you his contact details if you like, think he might have trained with the Balfours once upon a time?
