I purchased my horse Tipperary some 8 years ago. He was sold to me as a 1995 ISH and supposedly came across the Atlantic from Ireland to the USA at around the age of 5. Unfortunately I purchased him through an agent and his owner never responded to my requests for his passport. I am given to understand that on your side of the pond you do a much better job of not doing this.
I have been unsuccessfully trying to track down his information since I purchased him- he is a wonderful horse and I'd like to know what cross produced him. Through CapallOir I may have hit a match, Tipperary Boy, a 1995 bay by Clover Hill out of Knockroe Second, herself by Tullaherin Boy. Unfortunately, CapallOir does not allow free users to view the breeder's information. Ultimately, I think my best shot of finding out whether my Tip is Tipperary Boy would probably be to track down his breeder and hope he or she has a long memory, since the horse is 18 now. (Certain of the mare's characteristics would help to narrow down the possibility of Tipperary Boy being my horse: my Tip is a 15.2 model with minimal sabino markings. He certainly has the Clover Hill head, but if he is indeed by Clover Hill I'd think the mare would need to be on the smaller size and also carry sabino.) I am also looking to find a competition record for Tipperary Boy; if he was competing in Ireland at the age of 10, for example, I'll know he certainly isn't my Tip.
Could anyone recommend where I go from here to look up the name of a horse's breeder and a horse's competition record? I would have thought it would be on the Irish Horse Board website but I'm apparently looking in the wrong place.
