Hi all,
I know this is probably like searching for a needle in a haystack, but I thought it was worth a try.

I live in Canada and in 2003 I bought a mare who had been imported from England the previous fall (2002).

She's such a super horse, I'd love to know more about her. Ideally, I've love to know where she came from and who bred her, but I'd settle for any information.

What I know about her is this:
- born in 1997
- by Carnaval Drum
- She's bay roan with no white marks
- she's 16.2hh
- She was known as Carnaval Cream (Fanny)
- Didn't really show

Here's a couple of photos of her circa 2004-2005:

I've checked with NED, AES, KWPN and they don't have any record of her. I borrowed two chip scanners my vet had and they didn't pick up a chip.

If you know anything about "Polly", I'd love to know!

Thanks so much,
Kate

I remember reading an article by the guy who owned Carnaval Drum, he said he didn't care what the mare was as long as she had a good performance record. So her mum must have done something useful :)

She is too old to be chipped. That only became mandatory in the last few years in the UK.

Carnaval Drum was used a lot in Southern England as he stood in Hampshire

Probably not much help.

lol! Not sure about that one. His babies are 10 a penny around here and I know some very average mares who have had foals by him.

But OP I'm sure if you contact them they will be able to help you.

Can't help you with background on your mare, but should add that I know quite a few horses sired by Carnaval Drum and they all seem to be lovely horses!

(Even if people insist on spelling 'CarnAval' as 'CarnIval'!)

I would contact the stud, you never know they might be able to help you. After all, roans aren't that common... What I can tell you is that I know of a very nice (looks and character) palomino gelding by C Drum, who despite being bred by a neighbour of mine from one of her mares, had the Carnaval Prefix. I don't understand that, but maybe someone else might... Also, he was registered as an Anglo Arab. Perhaps because she pre-dates the passport laws, maybe that's why there is no record of her?

I have a filly that I bred whose sire is Carnaval Pleasure (by Carnaval Drum) and she is named Carnaval Treasure. When thinking up a name for her I asked Kevin (Cooper) if I could call her Carnaval "something" and he said I could as "Carnaval" is not an affix per se. AES were quite happy with it!

Hi all,
I found she was registered with BSJA as CarnIval Cream. But still no info about breeding...

Thanks everyone for the help!

Kate

If you buy her BSJA record it will tell you her past riders, so maybe you could try and track them down? this is what I did with my mare who came with a very patchy history.

Sadly, nothing new to report :-(

I contacted BSJA and they didn't have any additional information about her that wasn't on the competition report. Also contacted AES and KWPN and they had no record of a Carnival Cream.

I also contacted Pembers Hill earlier in the week but still haven't heard anything back. I asked if they could reply even if they couldn't help me.

I have tried emailing them a couple of times before (using the contact email address on their site) but never heard anything back. I am wondering if my email is getting filtered out as spam or something since I'm sending from a clearly international address (my address ends in ".ca").

Everyone seems to say they are good to deal with so I'm wondering if this is what's happening. Any thoughts?

Again, thanks everyone for your help!

Kate
