For a friend who is moving to MK.. Any grass livery places very close to MK (she doesn't drive) or paddocks etc that you know of?

I used to know some but not now. I remember this question being asked some time ago but cannot find the thread, so apologies for the repeat!

i live just outside milton keynes and grass livery is like hen's teeth! there is somewhere over the east side at the top that i was PM'd about - Park Manor Farm i think at £15 a week and that's it. I am with a friend of a friend down in Little Brickhill and that was the closest I could find to Olney (15miles away!).

Yes Park Manor is the only place I know of that does grass livery. Most places I know of seem to be part livery in this area. Here's the info for Park Manor:

Park Manor Farm Riding Centre
Whaddon Road
Newton Longville
Bucks
MK17 0AT
01908 372148

There are a lot of yards in Bow Brickhill, but I don't know if any of those do grass livery. If not there are some fields near Loughton Lodge (near the lake) that are often rented out. I'm not sure who you get in touch with (the council?). Java Jane might know of some other yards?

Parks Trust own most of the paddocks. VCouncil don't own any I don't think, and if they do they are making housing on the land.
Not good on livery places as never used them, only know what I have been told about!
Brickhill area is a few yes, names I don't know. Ask at RB Equestrian or somehwere?

My old stables (Castlethorpe- near MKEC) does grass livery. Don't know the details off the top of my head though but if you want me to I can find out

If you are in Olney, is Keysoe too far fo ryou to go? There are a few yards around there. There are also a few in Radwell.

keysoe's miles away the other side of the nightmare place that is Bedford.

i've got a friend who lives in keysoe and i always go through bedford to get to her - that's the way she told me to go anyway. It's also a lot further than 10miles between olney and keysoe even as the crow flies, so not sure how you can be 5miles from both! just looked on the AA route finder which doesn't take you through bedford, but x-country and is a pretty straight route and even that is 19miles.

You may well go through Bedford to get there, but that is not the quickest route! Perhaps the easiest one to follow though. I live in a place called Pavenham and that misses out the Bedford bit altogether.

well, even so, you're still just over 10miles from olney and keysoe which makes it 20 to keysoe which is just a bit far for daily travelling to see horse distance. if it really were only 10miles to keysoe that would be doable, but not 20.

Actually, ask a silly question - why are we talking about Olney? I've just realised that she said MK - do you know which part of MK she means? JJ probably knows loads of places! (and there are some stables in Pavenham as well, but don't know whether they are private or whether they have liveries). There is also that cross country place in Carlton (can't remember what it is called).

it's coz i live in Olney and i'm looking for grass livery too, but have found it impossible to find. Original poster never posted again. And JJ said above she doesn't really know of anywhere.

Noo, I don't know of many places, have pm'd the ones I know of. Not had much to do with yards and stuff so am clueless!
There isn't anywhere in MK itself really, it's all on the outskirts, I remember Bex had to move quite a way.. mind you she has moved closer, with Squeeley, wonder where it is?

stevington is do-able, but not really much closer than where i have him currently as in the opposite direction to where i work. i come from surrey where there are horses, fields and yards round every corner so it's a bit of a shock to come up here and find no yards for miles.

For someone who doesn't drive, getting to most of these places is going to be a complete nightmare.

Yes, it is going to be a problem! I think she will have an understanding OH who will ferry her about though, they manage quiet well where they currently live.

Have asked where they are moving to and it is close to Stony Stratfrord but MK side (I don't know the area that well).

Grass livery is difficult to find it seems!

Thank you for the ideas so far

I agree it is not very horsey. I keep mine in maidenhead which is 80 miles away. Fortunately they are on full livery. Whereabouts do you work?

[/ QUOTE ]

at a small animal vets in Newport Pagnell. Dont think I could cope with driving 80miles to see my horse!

Hmm. There must be something on that route - it's nothing but fields! I have never heard of any in that area. Does anyone from Olney Saddlery (now Derby House) have any ideas?
