Hi everyone!

I have just signed up for this forum, so hope I'm posting this in the right place. I will be working in Maidenhead next year and was wondering if any of you can recommend any livery yards in the Maidenhead area. I am looking for a big stable for my horse, all year turn-out and a school, if outdoor it should be rideable also during bad weather periods. I have time to go and check on my horse once every day. I am not so familiar with the different terms you use to describe livery yards, since I'm from Germany, but I think this is part-livery, is it? Also I wouldn't have a clue about prices, so would be very grateful if someone could give me an idea of what to expect.

Thanks for your help, take care,

Hi Sue, there is a place called Lakeside Farm Livery which is not far off the Maidenhead Road towards Windsor. It has large fields, all year turnout and a school. I have never used it as my horses were too young to make use of it at the time, however, they have a website too, just look up Lakeside Livery. It does all forms of livery. I have also heard of a good one at Cox Green but I am afraid I don't know the name

I hope you find somewhere

Hi Sue
I live near Maidenhead, so I know a few of the livery yards.
Are you looking for what we would call 'part livery'? That would be where your horse is looked after for you - turnout/muck out/fetch in etc, and you would only need to do the riding/grooming. I dont know as many of those yards but as above, believe lakeside is very nice, did go for a riding club clinic there a while ago and it looked very nice. A bit further from Maidenhead are both Rosehill and Dean Place, which are next door to each other and share facilities, including 4 schools and a cross country course! Then a friend (on here actually, Sunshine Tallullah) was a Dorney Court and I believe that is nice too - hacking also good there.

If you are looking to be on assisted DIY (so you would be doing the mucking out etc but maybe get the horse either turned out or fetched in every day) there are lots of yards - close to Maidenhead would be Cannon Court, then out towards Cookham (very nice for hacking) would be Lee Farm and Woodlands Farm, and I was at a yard just over Cookham bridge called Hollands Farm.

Anyway, there are lots of yards, I have also heard of the one in Cox Green but dont know the name either!

Price wise - I have never had a horse on Part livery but would guess in this area you are looking at £80 to £100 a week? Assisted DIY probably around the £30 a week plus extra for services I guess.

PM me if you want any more help.

Snowball farm equestrian centre, has lots of facilities (again dorneywood).
2 indoor schools outdoor schools, x country course.
They hold there own shows etc including client/livery shows, I believe one of the local riding clubs uses the facilities as well.

Hi again!

Firstly thanks for your replies Breeze_Mum, Emma_C and BlueCharlie. Glad to hear that there are plenty of stables available. As from what I gather from Emma_Cs answer I think it is assisted DIY I'm looking for. I have still got 2 1/2 months to go before I start in Maidenhead, but I thought I might may be be able to narrow the number of possible yards down a bit, before I actually get there, so that I don't have to spend all that much time searching for a yard once I'm there. So I'll see if I can find some of the farms you mentioned on the net.

Take care, Sue1991
