I am wondering if nobody is interested in loaning at the moment? I have loaned/part loaned my ex eventer out since I retired him a few years ago, but since my latest sharer had to give him up a couple of months ago due to moving, I've found it impossible to find anyone to replace her. Although he is now a golden oldie, he is a fantastic schoolmaster, having competed Intermediate eventing, jumped Foxhunters & Medium dressage. He is great fun to ride, we have great hacking & he still competes happily at RC, which I'm happy to take people to if interested. I'm also happy to help people with their riding (I'm BHS qualified)
I do ask people to help with looking after him (only once a day as I do him & my other horses in the morning), but wouldn't have thought this unreasonable - they're on rubber so bed only takes 5-10 min & poo-picking 5 min as I normally do every day. I do ask for a contribution towards his keep, (approx £10 per day, depending how many days sharer wants to do, which seems to be fairly standard)
Do people just not want the opportunity to ride horses like this any more (I would have jumped at the chance when I was younger), or am I expecting too much?
Any suggestions (practical ones if possible!) much appreciated.
