I am wondering if nobody is interested in loaning at the moment? I have loaned/part loaned my ex eventer out since I retired him a few years ago, but since my latest sharer had to give him up a couple of months ago due to moving, I've found it impossible to find anyone to replace her. Although he is now a golden oldie, he is a fantastic schoolmaster, having competed Intermediate eventing, jumped Foxhunters & Medium dressage. He is great fun to ride, we have great hacking & he still competes happily at RC, which I'm happy to take people to if interested. I'm also happy to help people with their riding (I'm BHS qualified)
I do ask people to help with looking after him (only once a day as I do him & my other horses in the morning), but wouldn't have thought this unreasonable - they're on rubber so bed only takes 5-10 min & poo-picking 5 min as I normally do every day. I do ask for a contribution towards his keep, (approx £10 per day, depending how many days sharer wants to do, which seems to be fairly standard)
Do people just not want the opportunity to ride horses like this any more (I would have jumped at the chance when I was younger), or am I expecting too much?
Any suggestions (practical ones if possible!) much appreciated.

No practical suggestions, but if it was a few months down the line (I've only just returned to riding after a break) and you were near me I'd bite your hand off for such an opportunity!

Certainly it doesn't seem as though you're expecting too much.

I presume you've tried all the usual ad websites?

Thanks for replies. Have tried usual local websites, tack shops, word of mouth, etc. Had people contact me saying he sounds perfect & even arranged for couple of people to see him but then they text with excuses at last minute, so nobody seems serious.
We are based in New Forest, Hampshire - seem to be lots of people who would be ideal but live too far away, but nobody in this vicinity!

When I lived in London I used to share horses out in Surrey. I used horsesharesuk.co.uk; gumtree; horsetoloan and horsequest when I was looking, so it might be worth expanding your search and placing an ad on some of these?
