Hi
I have had a special mare of mine die this year. She came to me as an ex showjumper - originally from the Essex area. I hunted her for a while and then turned her into a broodmare.
She had one foal that i graded at BEF futurity who got First Premium and highest score of the day, and her foal this year who is now sadly an orphan.

lola had some 'temper tantrum' issues, caused by being man handled i think. She really did have her own mind and could be very stubborn!
She had a favourite trick of standing quietly on your foot as you put her saddle on! She had a bit of an 'I'll get you before you get me' attitude!

She was liver chesnut, she actually measured 18hh but was always reffered to as 17.1 or two. She weaved like she was disco dancing and would chase anyone walking in her field!

I can hear you asking yourself 'why ever breed from that'!!

Well she could also be a sweetie and i have never jumped anything so cat like in my life. All of her bad attitude had been man made as her babies prove.

What is really sad, is that i don't know her breeding and would dearly love to know it. i think she is Dutch, but she could also be irish.

She was bought from a yard in Essex in about 2004, if you think you knew her, please contact me with any info however small.
RIP Lola

How do i get a pic up?

A lovely story, other than the sad loss. Hope the foal is doing okay.

Pictures:
Open a Photobucket account;
Upload pictures from your pc/laptop;
Chose the pic you want to put on here;
Hover mouse over it, a drop down box will appear;
Highlight the bottom option in that drop-down box (IMG code);

I always check my posts with pictures by choosing 'Preview Post' to make sure I got what I thought I had chosen ;)

Look forward to seeing pictures :)

Thankyou,
she was bought from a yard and it may have been before 2004, the man who bought her went very early one morning all in a bit of a rush and I think she may have been super naughty and sold in a hurry!!

She wasn't really evil but she was very big and could easily squash anyone not capable of controlling her, so I rather think it was a 'get rid' job.

I think if her name has not changed, someone would definately remember her - she isn't one you would forget in a hurry!

Just remembered something else, she was good to groom, a bit tickly about her tum, picked up her feet well - which were all white hoof but amazingly tough - blacksmith had to use two hands on the chompers - and fine to clip and all fine to plait until you got to the last on by her ears - oooooo that was difficult!

Poor Lola:D

Ah thanks, how did you make the pic appear?
I do miss her. I keep stroking and fussing her orhan foal and recognizing bits of Lola, its quite wierd, her first foal wasn't like her like this one is - she will be the image of her mum, apart from colour - she is roan now but will go grey or rather silver like her stunning dad Louella Inschalla - now also dead so she really is orphan annie!
