Hello does anyone have a black country Wexford and could tell me if its a saddle they would recommend? How comfy it is for long term hacking and playing about on. Have to get M2M saddles for the heffalump so trying to make sure its just right as I doubt I will be able to actually ride on one that fits!

Thanks :)

I tried a second hand one a few years ago and it was beautifully comfortable, I'd definitely have one for hacking.....would be top of my list!! The reason I didn't have it was because the seat was too deep for jumping, I kept catching my arse on it ;)!!! Prefer a flatter seat for jumping.

I'd echo sneedy, lovely saddles for comfortable hacking/hunting, probably just a bit too much bulk for SJ / eventing

I don't think I will do much jumping tbh, horse is too big for standard tracks and my knee cannot hold up to much more then a couple o f jumps, though I can jump from a dressage saddle so the deep seat might not bother too much, I just want a comfy saddle for fast work and the occasional jump... Horse is such a pest to fit a saddle to! The other I thought of was the quantum?

I'm a fitter and I always recommend against M2M and buying from stock whenever possible. Do you mind me asking what factors are leading you to think M2M is the way you have to go? Much better, as you have implied, to be able to try the saddle you are likely to buy...

My horse cannot be fitted off the peg, he is a pure clydesdale is wider and needs a straight cut under flap as otherwise forward cut saddles cut his canter a little short. I know I won't get that in a demo but I need to be able to just have a sit even if its on my other horse to see that I like it. All my saddles for him have been M2M as per the instructions of 2 fitters.

Fair enough, I presume you need a more forward flap over the straight cut sweat flap? I specialise in fitting wide horses and fit from stock, so I did wonder if he was wide as so many people think their only option is M2M for wide flat horses, but I guess yours is more about a kind of mismatch between the style of flap that suits him and what suits you :)

Yes forward over what appears like a dressage flap. The thing is he is not flat and wide, this is where he gets difficult he has large withers and is wide. :) He is a complicated big chap to fit to and can easily take "dislikes" to saddles :o I don't really mind as I tend to get things more to my specification this way :)
