Not exactly CR but post in here so you are the guys I know and would look to for some advice.

Horses are on DIY and we enjoy looking after them ourselves just think with limited hours in the evening it might be nice for the neds to hack out in the week so they have some down time and variety. How do I go about advertising for this as sites tend to be for loan or proper share or should I try and find someone by word of mouth.

Currently have my 17yo mare who loves to hunt and jump, a 6yo who R events and is working at improving her flat phase both are good to hack though I would want an experienced rider for them. Am about to start looking for something younger for me and R to share who is established on that flat so would be a nice variety for someone. Don't really want any financial committment, just really looking for someone who wants to have fun with the neds during the day? Is someone likely to want this or would it be the sought of thing you would pay someone for? Would people look on normal horsey sites for this?

Any advice appreciated :D

Difficult one this. Its finding the right person. A few years back I didn't really have the time to do mine justice, so let someone who'd been to an equestrian college ride him.

You need to get the right rider, someone who won't let the horse get away with nonsense and who will benefit the horse not let it get away with stuff.

Personally, I'd be very iffy about anyone riding mine coz he's a real darling but will take the p!ss if he's allowed to get away with it, which means that you then have to sort out bad habits which someone else has let develop.

Sorry haven't been much help.

A couple of people I know have used Newrider forum to find sharer type people. It seems to be quite a busy forum for that type of thing - under loans/shares in their classified bit.

If I were you I would approach a freelance groom through word of mouth/recommendation and pay them, that way you will be more likely to find a suitable, experienced rider for your horses.

Whatever you decide to do please make sure that who ever you do find has proper insurance.

Good luck
