I know I posted earlier in the week about finding someone to ride Beau, and then decided against it, thinking it could do him no harm to stand in the field, but could do him harm if someone ruined him.

Howver, my OH (who is a novice) rode him today for the first time in 2 months, and Beau's fatwork is really suffering because of the lack of work, and with OH having just learned to ride himself, he isnt experienced enough to school etc.

Beau would never do anything wrong, he is a saint, its not fair on him to be backtracking in his education, plus he is bored.
He is keen to learn, but OH isnt experienced enough to teach him.

So Im going to bite the bullet, I do NOT want a sharer, I still have plenty of time to spend with the horses, I just have a lot going on family wise and not up to riding much at the mo.
I just want someone to ride.

Anyway if anyone wants any more info then just let me know.
Im a bit reluctant to put an ad in the paper for fear of being inundated with teenagers on their school hols wanting free rides!

Here are some pics of him from Today:

Also if anyone can recommend any questions I should ask, or what to look for in potential people, I would be grateful!

Oh, he is handsome (almost as lovely as Lance *GRIN*). What a shame you are so far away from me, I am looking for a horse to school on. Best of luck finding someone, I am sure it wouldn't actually be too hard to find someone who jsut wanted to ride, not have the whole farala of sharing ! I would go the route of ads in tackshops and maybe local yards - though I suspect wherever you advertise, you'll get loads of those responses that say "I can walk trot and canter off the leadrein - how high does your pony jump?" Best of luck finding someone normal, though !

Hello

A lady I know was in the same position as you and she put up a really nice long advert in the tack shop explaining the situation - plus she did put - please no under 18s etc.... I dont think that there is nothing wrong with that either!! As long as its a polite ad -you will get the right person! She got someone too! Just wouldnt put 'no timewasters' as its a bit agressive IMO although I know why people put it but a real timewaster will still come regardless of putting that!!

Good Luck !!!

Me too!
I'm trying to think if I know anyone who might want to do that sort of thing, but I can't think of anyone unfortunately. My instructer schools horses but she obviously charges for it, and I'm sure you would be able to find somebody to do it for free easily. I would bite your hand off if I didn't have a horse myself!

He he thank you!

Yes those are the responses Im imagining! when I advertised for a rider for my old mare, I had teenagers ringing up who had never been on a horse, they wanted to learn but not to pay!

Thank you! LOL at the no timewasters bit, I never put that in, I always think I cant imagine a 'timewaster' looking at the ad and thinking , oh well it says no timewasters so that rules me out, if people want to waste your time, they will I guess!

I would want to speak to someone on the phone properly before they even got near him anyway, not putting up with joyriders or people filling their time.

Im sure any genuine person wont mind that, afterall they will be getting a lovely horse to ride for free.

Thanks, I wouldnt even mind if the person wanted to continue riding when Im back on track, I do have two so it will be nice to have someone to hack out with.
I dont want someone to think they will be thrown on the scrapheap as soon as Im in a better position.
