I am intending on putting my mare in foal in the late spring early summer. I have been thinking about putting her to catherston Springsteen and am going to go down and have alook at him and some of the other stallions down there. But would like to look at some others aswell does any onehave any recommendations? She is a TBx Conemmara x possibly something else she is the build of a stocky TB with the temperament of a conemmara. She events but as you can imagine although she does an accurate dressage test doesnt always get the fairest of marks against the Warmbloods. So hoping to get something with her temperament but with a better movement ideally.
She is fairly feisty but controllable.
Does any one have any recommendations of places to look for stallions or any stallion recommendations they would be much appreciated.

I am a complete novice to the whole breeding thing so all advice gratefully received
Thanks

I love a graey TB stallion called Thethingaboutitis. My arab mare is in foal to him. He has a fantastic temperament his stock seem to inherit and isn't too lightweight. He stands near Wolverhamption and the stud is very well run.

Ooohhh, Stravinsky is LOVELY! He hasn't crossed my radar before. Fabulous to see a pure TB doing what he does. I'd definitely consider him if I had a WB mare.

Hes stunning isnt he! Im thinking i might use him for Bloss next time around - altho my list for her seems to be getting longer rather than shorter!! Id love to see him in the flesh sometime and would be interested to see what his youngstock turn out like.

I looked after thethingaboutitis after he came out of training and tbh I didn't rate him then and I don't rate him now. He'd been in training with Geoff Lewis and was a sweet thing but no oil painting to say the least. REally cannot understand people using him at stud. He has far from a brilliant conformation unless more 'flab' from not racing is covering some weaker points.

We have a 2007 coloured filly by Stravinsky xx out of our Swedish mare.

She gained a First Premium with the BEF in the Eventing foal section this summer.

She is branded Oldenburg and was awarded Fohlenprämie!

As you can imagine - we are delighted with her!

Stravinsky's owners are planning on taking him to the stallion show again at Addington in February. In fact anyone looking for a competition stallion should attend. You'll see most of decent British stallions there and you can walk round the stallions and see them in their boxes too.

there were a lot of thethingaboutitis horses around where i used to ride, and my sj instructor there was very vociferous in her dislike of them, cos they weren't very athletic!
to OP, i'd go for the best TB or TBxID (little bit of ID) you can find, i think, if you want to breed to event. a lot of TBs move very well, it's just a case of finding them!

someone whose opinion i really rate was telling me the other day that he thinks warmbloods are just not as tough as TB and IDxTB types, they don't stand up to the work for long. certainly borne out by my experience.

The TB got a rave review by William Micklen in this weeks H&H. He is so right when he states "Many elite performers carry a majority of TB blood". I think your mare could well benifit going back to a TB.

Of course Stravinsky has sons who are approved stallions in Europe, including a Trakehner approved in 2006 and several Danish horses. He also has approved grandsons.
