I am selling my Welsh C mare after she has come back from loan, she is a chunky 13.2 (up to height, shall we say!).
I love her! She is fun, unflappable, totally non spooky, has great brakes but is forward going. I want to keep her. I don't have a horse to ride after my mare was PTS last year and my 2 year old obviously won't be doing anything for a couple of years.
BUT apparently I look silly. I am 5'7" and she is very short coupled so has a 16.5" saddle. So I don't sit on the cantle I have to ride very long.

That is me on her in the middle, a bit small to tell I know. Do I look silly? Is it cruel? I weigh about 10.5 stone I would think. I won't hunt or jump her, I just want to hack. What do you think?

You look perfectly fine to me. Just crack on - she will let you know if she is not comfortable.

Thank you, you two. I may well just keep on with her then. Also apparently she is wasted as she is a good jumping pony and should be out competing but she seems quite happy toddling round the lanes with me.
OH will go mad but tbh you can't get a much cheaper to run ned!

I think you look fine, if it makes you feel better I am about 5ft7 & one of mine is 13.3 & we jump. Just have some fun :)

This is me on him

Give her to me, i'm 5'7" and 10.5 stone and i would quite happily hack her out, she looks sturdy enough, just listen to her, if she is struggling they quite often tell us.

Horses don't care about being wasted imo. If you think the pony genuinely loves jumping & will miss it (rather than just being good) you should be able to find a willing under 16 to compete her from your description without too much trouble. You look fine to me & not too heavy at all. I'm 5'10 & very leggy & still ride my 14.2. She isn't short coupled so my upper body has a bit more room but as I ride very long my feet are at least a few inches further down her sides than yours. And as I jump pretty short anyway it didn't stop us competing or hunting. Just wore swan neck spurs for dressage.

Yay! Its nice when you get the answer you want. A 14 year old girl is jumping her at home at the moment and would love to take her out competing, but it is all money. I have teenagers clamouring to ride her but none of their parents want to spend money on her! Poor pone.

I honestly didnt know which one was you in pics. You honestly look fine on her!! Go enjoy her and have lots and lots of fun.She looks so sweet!
Ignore millsandboon.

Its OK. As far as I know M&B is harmless. (Snigger!)
I decided to leave the ads running and if someone offers me loads of money I will consider it but otherwise I will keep her. Got saddler and farrier out on Monday!
