Hi all, just joined today. We had our 8 year old dog pass away 3 months ago and are now thinking of getting a new Beagle. The pup we’ve seen doesn’t come with papers I just want to be sure it’s pedigree. Could anyone help me out with photos attached please??

I wouldn't think anyone e would eb able to tell if it's pedigree or not from photo's.

Where did you see it advertised? If their not registered their Kennel Club or offering papers with health tests for the parents I"d steer well clear

Try here first http://www.beagleassociation.org.uk

There are a lot of people breeding and charging ridiculous money for puppies right now many of whom won't have had the parent dogs health tested. so beware!

Seen local to my area. There’s people charging £1800+ and the dogs look like Jack Russells! This pup is microchipped, having final jabs today etc.

It is illegal to sell a pup that isn't microchipped, so that's not really anything to go on.
As parrotperson says it is impossible to tell from photos but I would be wary if not kc registered, it often means someone taking short cuts, eg not health testing, or bitch bred from too many times, or too young.

Either the parents are unregistered/not pure bred, one or both is too old/too young, or overbred, or they're closely related, or the breeders can't afford it/don't want to dig into their profits, or they can't be bothered/aren't interested registering. Those are the primary reasons why puppies are not registered and it is up to you to decide whether you want to spend your money on what is essentially a 'product' with no guarantee when there are breeders doing things better.

While a registration certificate/paper pedigree from a kennel club goes some way to assure pure breeding, the **only** way to prove a pup is a true pedigree/from the parents the breeders claim it is, is through DNA, tied to an existing breed registry/database.

Thanks for the replies. Some sensible information too. There’s a lot of people about just seeing the money and not caring about the dogs.
