Hi HHers

I am very sad to say I have had to give up the horse I was sharing as they have now moved to a yard 40 mins drive away which is just too far :( I was absolutely spoilt with him, he was perfect gorgeous horse, no vices (except for a little nibbly!) and could school, jump and hack him as much as i liked really for just a very small monthly contribution to the farrier!

I have been trying to find another share in or around the Brighton, Lewes, Ditchling area but so far I havent found any that really click. Ive found that the horses are okay, (not very exciting and wouldnt be able to do much on them at all) but the owners are very odd indeed and just seem to want to make money out of them :/

I am really looking for a lovely horse that needs a bit of exercising and does a bit of everything (not looking to compete, just have a bit of fun - hacking, schooling, jumping) and a likeminded owner who could potentially be a really good friend. Being a student I dont have alot of money, but for the right horse I could manage a small financial contribution, and would obviously do stable duties if required! Im sure there must be people who (as it draws near to winter) find it hard to ride their horses during the week with the short days who would like a bit of help and know their horse is getting lots of love and attention.

Does anyone know of anything that sounds similar? I really am excited to find one that suits. I am not by any means an expert in any particular field but I do have experience riding all sorts of horses and ponies of all ages, bringing them on, and flatwork/jumping. I am not a nervous rider and am quite happy with a bit of a "challenge" as long as they are not dangerous!

Please get in touch if you think you can help :)

Hey!
I too am at uni in Brighton and brought my mare down with me this year.

I was looking for someone to ride her once or twice a week as I'm pretty busy with work and uni so a few days a week only have time to hack her round the block.
Shes such a fun mare - 14.3hh welsh d, schools nicely (canter needs a bit of work but we're getting there), adores jumping and hacks out alone or in company. She can be excitable jumping and hacking but is completely safe - doesn't buck, rear, nap just enjoys being ridden!

My yard has two arenas and lots of local hacking around the south downs.

Does this sound like something you'd be interested in? I would ideally like a small financial contribution to cover farrier costs (shes only shod in front) and am really flexible with days! Have been looking for a while but havn't found anyone suitable as shes not a novice ride but you sound capable!

We're in Portslade by the way, the number 6 bus goes right next to the yard and you can get that from Brighton town center I think, and the train goes there as well though I'm not sure how far away the station is from the yard :)

Hi there!

This sounds lovely, where abouts are you in portslade then?
Im here at uni too, what are you studying?.. my 3 (pictured underneath!) are in Somerset as my mum moved down there and so are horses of leisure now as I cant get down there during term time.. Your mare sounds lovely :) (the little one in my pictures is my little welsh B monster!) Maybe you could PM me with some more details about what you would like financially and if you have any more questions to ask me :)

I do love Horse and Hound forum, found my last share on here!
