My very good friend has just had some devastating news from Leahurst, her lovely boy has been diagnosed with damage to his collateral ligaments in his off fore (hoof). She has been unconsolable, he has to do 9 weeks box rest then a further 12 weeks in a VERY small paddock then VERY slowly back into work, but out of the school for a significant amont of time.

I was wondering, as i've been looking does such a thing exist!! ok heregoes, she would be interested in loaning a horse for 18 months-2 years as she intends to just hack her poorly boy for a year to build up the strength in his ligament. So dou you think that a 16.2ish 7-15 year ols with BD comp history up to novice/elem, sensible type, hacks out, doesn't need to be a world beater but consistent - she was just getting going with her poorly boy and ready to do BD novice for the first time. She's a competent rider but on occasion lacks confidence due to past experiences, but this by no was detracts from the fact that she is very competent and very willing to have regular training(which she does) If she was to find a horse it would be treated as her own, kept on a DIY yard with good facilities in Cheshire.

Does such a thing exist?????????????????????

Would take some looking but not impossible. Could be one from someone who's just started a family or an ex-eventer looking for a quieter life. I'd not limit the age to 15 tho, that way she might find an older horse needing to wind down & its more likely to build her confidence

Well I would hope so as this is EXACTLY what I am looking for!!

Although not having any luck :( All people seem to keep offering is their green 4 & 5 YOs. No thank you, I want something that is established both mentally and physically and is ready to go out and compete at at least Novice. Not have to spend a year or so establishing the basics, spending a fortune on training, having to go back out doing intros, probably add some value and then have them whip it back off me after a couple of years when I'm finally starting to get somewhere :(

If anyone has/ knows of anything please drop me a PM :)

exactly right SS if anyone knows of anything pls PM me if you like, no we wouldn't limit the age to 15 for the right horse, surely there must be at least 2 horses out there for us?????

I have loaned mine out (elementary level) - you will find something. Good Luck :)

Hope you find something, but I'd warn your friend that it may take a couple of months before she finds anything suitable.
I agree with what the others have said about age, and it might be an idea to look at shares as well as full loans to broaden out your search :)
