Having getting swine flu in jan me and OH could not get to Egypt so last month we booked to go to turkey with our insurance pay out. We are due to fly this tues but it really looks as if we are not going now. I really feel sorry for all these people flying out for weddings. Hurry up ash just bugger off

Not sure but I was told my friends managed to get a flight out to Thailand today. They are supposed to be getting married. Having said that the flight cancellation was not insured as deemed and act of god. So they had to pay again.

They should check their insurance as the airline should offer a refund or alternative flight. What doesn't apply is the extra compensation that some policies offer.

I'm due to fly to Florida for long awaited holiday in two weeks - been booked since last October and SO looking forward to it. But I'm fearing the worst because all the "experts" can't see an end to the problems at the moment, and it will take days for everything to get back to normal schedules even once the ash has cleared.Luckily we're going to a friend's apartment so just the flight and car hire paid for, so should get another flight later in the year. I'm promising myself that at least I can go to Badminton if we don't go on holiday!

I had heard that they will try to get long haul flights in/out as from Monday, but the short haul flights are delayed/cancelled for the forseeable future!?!?

We were supposed to fly out to Dubai for 2 weeks yesterday. We have managed to rebook for Tuesday and alter hotel booking. Not feeling too confident looking at the news but fingers and toes crossed. This holiday was supposed to be a rest for my Mum after her recent operation which has meant she is unable to do anything at the moment.
