well riding bareback or no riding at all and i have my first show of the year in 4 weeks :o, took my saddle in to be looked at as some stitching has come undone and also needs reflocking and it is being sent off and wont be back for two weeks, didn't realised it would be away for that long. Because of where the stitching needs doing a whole pannel will need doing, its going to cost me at least £50, won't know definate cost till i collect it.
Also found out the saddle is bout 40years old.

Iv ridden him bareback once and walk and trot were fine :) but kept getting faster in canter (he has a very bouncy canter) and we only stopped as he did a little buck and i slipped off :o
Im not even going to attempt jumping him bareback so it will hopfully not be kept longer and will be back before the show.

Not sure what size his saddle is :o might ring the place that has it tomorrow and ask them to tell me what size it is. Just got back from the yard and a friend on the yard has some saddles we could try and my instructor said she has one that might fit so hoping one will then i can borrow it till i get mine back.:)
Thank you for the offer though x

Bareback riding is so fun and great for improving your balance and position. I've been pony squishing for the last two weeks and have had a wicked time jumping a 14.1hh bareback :D :D

It's not so fun on my very high withered TB though :p  :D

I may attempt bareback riding, walk and trot were fine last time but i think i gripped with my legs when trying to slow down in canter last time (he has a very bouncy canter which i can sit too with a saddle) and confused him then he bucked and i came off:o, would love to jump him bareback but need to be able to canter bareback first.
He is 14.2hh so easy to get on :)
I agree with the TB bareback riding not being so fun i occasionally rode my old 15.2hh high withered TB bareback, my mums 13.2hh dales is very comfy bareback though:D

It is good for your confiendence sp? too!! Ive been riding bareback for over a month now it's a shame I cant get him to bow down....a 17.1 IDXDWB isnt just a bounce up!!! Ive manged to have our first canter the other day and he didnt pull at all!!! I might even try jumping!!

I used to ride my old pony Kit bareback jumped her up to 2.9ft I couldnt with my other horse though because he is cold backed and more of a serious competitin horse- Handley Chesney Barnes or Chez. I really miss something I can gallop about and jump random things! R.I.P Kit kat :)
